He walked me.... twice. First run I COULD NOT get into 3rd gear. You guys know the drill... it simply would NOT go until the revs dropped to about 3.5k. 40mph roll to 100mph he probably pulled 4 car lengths on me. It was truly shameful. Afterward at lunch I was doing the math and even with his 3 passengers, I think my truck was still 3-400 pounds heavier. He started in 1st gear !!! I started in mid-2nd gear. So gearing was clearly an issue. But honestly, we were both surprised the truck did so poorly.
May be time to upgrade the to X1 and a smaller pulley. :hmmmm2: Or perhaps a better driver.... :laugh: ]]>
So the merge ended up being a two lane merge onto the other freeway. I was in one lane stuck behind a car and he was in the other lane. I switched lane and was behind the Lexus. I saw exhaust fumes come out of his exhaust, so I knew he punched it and wanted to play. So I said oh really, don't you see my big a$$ shiny radiator behind my bbq fence grill in your rear view mirror? So I down shifted to third and my MKII was ready. I cleared the car that was on my previous lane then switched over. So we were side by side and I stepped on it. I was gone like he was in a sit still. I can see my truck just pulling away from him like no tomorrow.
So I slowed down for him. It took him a while to catch up. He caught up and was behind me so I changed lane so we can be side by side again. He ended up going behind me then high beamed me (maybe to see what kind of truck he just got eaten by?) Then he exited. I'm not sure if it was his exit or the Lexus was just plain embarrass so he exited.
Then a motorcycle maybe a 600RR or something with a rear tail exit exhaust. Again, it was dark and I can't really see. He pulls up next to me and gave me the thumbs up.:top: I guess he saw everything between me and the Lexus. So pulls up next to me and he revved his motorcycle at me.I sorta toyed with him too but got blocked by traffic. Not bad for a MKII.
All I know that Lexus IS250 or 350 was dead meat! What a way to end my night. He picked his battle and lost. :laugh:

So I am leaving work on Friday. A black conv camaro pulls from a side street in front of me as we are heading off the base. I keep lookin at the guy driving. Looks like my buddy Miramontes, but not sure. So we make it out the gate. He turns on to the main street first. I am close behind, but we are just driving. Pulled up next to him at the light. Sure enough, its him. I said, "when did you get that?" He said a few weeks ago. He has a big F350 and did have a sports bike.
I asked him if it was fast. He said pssssshhhh hell yeah! I said, "lets see then..." The light turns green and I launch off. Realized he was sleepin a tad so I let the truck idle down. Soon as I heard him in it, I punched it easily pullin 2 car links before we had to let up.
What happened next was priceless. He caught up to me at the next light and said "man, your truck ain't got shizza on me!" I said....."what eva." He said...."well lets take it to the highway." So we did. I followed him thru some slow traffic until the lanes opened at the begining of the 601 (three lane open highway).
We get beside eachother and both slow down, down shift into second. I gave the three horn blows and we are off. Before I got thru second, I had already had him to my back 1/4 of my X. And it just got worse from there. When I hit 100, I had easy 7-10 links or more. Who knows.....just know that Camaro looked like a little black spot in the road.
I slowed down to let him catch up. He played the "I can't shift" game to me. He said, "alright....I'm out" I let him take off in front of me in 3rd. Then I launched past him again. Can't wait to give him shizza tomorrow at work.

Insurance company called me today and they have totalled it. When I asked him about all my mods, he said if they end up pushing the value of the truck too much, they'll untotal it; which sucks b/c if the truck is that damaged, do I really want it repaired.
Maybe they'll let me take off my mods and then total it. Then engine was untouched and it started up and sounded fine. Pretty much the damage was limited to the passenger tire area, but I think the frame was tweaked.
Apparently he hit another car before he hit mine, then after he hit mine tried to drive off, and when that didn't work, try to stumble off.
9/1/2010 Update:
The guy had minimum liability insurance, and apparently TX is a first come first serve state. The other car involved filed first and was 6k+ and mine was 20k+ damage, so they wouldn't be able to cover me fully. I had to close the claim with his insurance company and file an under insured motored claim with my insurance company. They are going to come out today and inspect it and hopefully they total it too. I spoke with the adjuster and he is fine with me removing any mods I want. It's just annoying all this back and forth and delays. I was going to buy a vehicle Monday, but now I have to wait b/c I don't want to end up having the Tacoma not totalled and a new vehicle payment.
I have an appointment in Dallas next Wednesday to get my car tuned and I was going to use my truck to tow it up there, so I need something by next Wed.

Anyway, i gave him a two second head start and i spun half way through 1st gear. Once i hit second and actually got the clutch to engage (this was 5 days ago before i got the new flywheel and clutch installed) i rocketed by him and must have put 5 car lengths on him in less than 3 seconds lol whoa! :biggrin: ]]>

That pretty sums up my trip home from mexico..... I was heading home and the porsche pulls up next to me slowly and I just gently touch the gas to keep up with him....... So then we are going around 45 or so. I just give a little pump of the gas and he bites. So were off!....... I slowly pull away from him and once I hit 3rd I was really pullin away..... the one thing that really surprised me was his comment. We get up to a light and he asks me what I have done.... I advise him of everything and he says this..... "I've never seen a tacoma pull away from me so fast!" I was really surprised he knew what kind of truck I had and he said he loved the style of it. So we chit chat for a little while and the light turns green and he takes off.......
Next thing I know I see a blue bmw coming up behind me and i'm just praying that it's an m3 or something worthy of racing..... surely enough..... I see it on his fender... M3...... I'm guessing he had seen me smoke that carrera so he is the one that instigates this race... he pumps his gas one time and I drop it into second and we are off!...... He was a really good race for a little while.... we stayed head to head till about mid way thru 3rd and I gently pull away...... I was really surprised I beat him at all...... He catches up to me at the end of the race and just gives me the thumbs up.... At this point I got a grin bigger than a fat kid with a shopping spree at a candy store.....
So I get on the freeway and I meet up with my buddy in his s2k..... Next thing I know I don't even realize it but i'm next to an SRT8 Jeep..... I had to taunt this guy.... He looks over and laughs at me till I floor it one time and that impressed him..... So me and my buddy in his s2k are on the freeway we split up and the srt8 gets in the middle..... We slow down to about 50 or so...... And get into our gears..... The srt8 looks over at me and then looks over at my buddy..... We give him the jump and we are off!...... He stays ahead of me till about midway thru 3rd and I start reeling him in..... I get to 4th and i'm pulling away..... After that the guy didn't even want to look at me.... He was a poor sport and didn't even wanna talk afterwards.... He just looked over at me once and did a gay gesture and took off... I reeled him in again and thru my hazards on and kept staying in front of him till he got off the freeway..... :laugh:
