Anyone ever heard of using 7 ounces of automatic transmission fluid to clean out your intake manifold?

My best friend goes to UTI in Houston and several of his teacher's said that you can do so by mixing in 7 ounces with about a 1/4 tank of gas.

I'm not thinking about trying it, just wondering if anyone else had heard about this.

Well I guess it could work... Auto tranny fluid has a bunch of detergents in it.. I heard that auto tranny mechanics hands are always clean because of that.

No, don't do it. But as a prank at our shop, there is a restaurant across the street that serves Lebanese food, wth? Anyways, we'll have a car running a pour a TINY bit into the intake and it smokes like crazy out the tail lolol\

if you want to clean ur intake, take it off, use Spray nine of some sort of degreaser and whatever you can find to clean the runners.

Never heard of using tranny fluid in the gas tank. I've only heard of using it with the oil to quiet lifter clicking. I've always used Seafoam or BG in one of those BG aerosol canisters you run off of a compressed air line to clean the throttle body and intake manifold. Here are some cans of BG in their own aerosol can I found on ebay if you're interested :

Use seafoam or BG. Used seafoam on my silverado with 205K and it made a BIG difference.
Smoked like a mofo for a long time while using this stuff.

Hearing that UTI does is should tell you it doesnt work anyways. lol. Never heard anything good about them

Heard of it and done it. Straight into the intake tho, not mixed in the gas. Only on old POS cars tho. I wouldn't do it to any thing newer.

Supposed to help clean valves and cumbustion chamber. It actually helped smooth out an 89 F250 I tried it on. Does smoke quite a bit for a min.

Ditto. Carb cars.

By the way, it will generate enough smoke out the exhaust that someone will call the fire department.

Alrighty, well that's good.

I was just wondering if someone had in fact done this.

Have no plans to do it on either of my vehicles.

so will a BG air induction service if the car needs it. has happened twice in the past week at my shop.

Tranny fluid in ur gas is not a good idea. the seals in u fuel system are designed to be in catact with a solvent like gasoline and ethonal not a petroleum product. besides that the injectors are in the manifold and not in the plenum. you wouldnt "clean" any part of the plastic plenum. niether would 44k that is why bg also sells an air induction service that comes with a can of 44k for the fuel system.

trans fluid in your oil on the other hand will do a good job at cleaning. I have seen engines that are to be stored for long periods of time(more than 6 months on collectors cars) filled full of trans fluid. and i mean filled until it comes out the cap full. this not only gives the engine a lubricant but and serves as a cleaning agent it alsot stops moisture and prevents any oxidation inside the enigne.

oh and FYI i hate doing air inductions on drive by wire cars its a PITA (you have to bring the car off idle and with a cable driven car you can simply stick a pocket screw dirver in the throttle stop but with the drive by wire you have to go through all the trouble of holding the gas pedal down with a brake pedal depressor just the right amount)

I'm really starting to hate the drive by wire, work on more and more cars with it every day. super PITA.

I use BG induction flush kits. Every car smokes, the more build up the more smoke there is.
I also get money from the sales rep if i keep the caps and colored discs found inside the contianers. That's always a bonus.

Our shop uses a canister with a regulator, fill that with induction cleaner, attach it to the fuel rail and disable the fuel pump. The engine will run on the cleaner for 10-15 minutes. hook everything back up and go to the nearest on ramp and floor it. The BG stuff is great for this. It melts the carbon away.

not all the cars i have done it on have smoked. most of the bmws and the mercedes dont smoke that much(but they tend to have lower miles)

bg does the stickers for money thing here too. our shop piles all the money togeather and splits it up between the techs evenley. and we all go out to the casino and eat dinner and loose the rest lol

By placing the 7 ounces of Auto Tranny Fluid in the gas tank, it goes thru the injectors and cleans off your valves.
