DTLT/exhaust opinions
sup guys, i just had the DTLT installed this sunday and wanted to know your opinion. i have a magnaflow 4"x9x18 muffler on stock piping and deleted rear cats. would you guys rather have the rear cats or no cats at all? and is do i gain performance with deleted cats vs cats? thanks

i still have my rear cats also and its pretty raspy..deleting the cats will free up the exhaust and move your powerband up (you'll have less bottom end and more top end.) and it will get really loud and raspy

I have mine still too. Don't think u are going to gain a lot from deleted cats or the Y pipe. If you do at all its going to be on the top end. Most trucks get raspy when you add DT and peformace exhaust. Mag is not as bad as Flowmaster. Resinator tip will help some. I don't have rasp with my current set up. But that is 3" full cat back too.

you will really only gain more power by deleting the cats if you are F/I with either a T/C or S/C...
I do have DTLH with stock y-pipe and exhaust...not too raspy it sounds pretty good right now...but I'm sure it will get more raspy with no cats...

and even doin that when you are F/I is not totally necessary to be honest.

I was considering a Y, but I don't want to deal with all that rasp and puttin on a second muff. I would like to see some comparision numbers for guys that added the Y and then added a muff to see if there is really any diff in doing all that work.....

I also have my stock Y but a 2 1/2" version of URD's catback with the quiet muffler. There's no rasp at all with this setup. I had the pipe bomb Y and noticed NO gains and i'm blown, only noticeable thing was MAD rasp
What ever u do don't punch the cats out cause u will lose power with the turbulence it creates.

I used to have the magnaflow muffler with the urd-y-pipe (no cats) and the DTLT headers, but it was too loud and raspy, so i stuck on the turbo (quiet) muffler on and it got rid of the rasp, but it's still loud when I punch it. Now I'm looking into the 2nd muffler option. I got rid of all my cats to prepare for a S/C b/c in theory it sounded like it would optimize flow, but not sure if it'll truly make a difference. You will lose some backpressure and low end without any cats without F/I... I think my gas mileage improved though without any cats, but it's definitely more stinky and would not pass a smog inspection. Luckily they don't check in HI yet.
