Oil Grade

I've read alot of threads on synthetic oil. I purchased 5w30 mobil 1 synthetic. Not sure what grade of oil I should use and weather switching from oem 5w30 grade is good. What do u guys recommend I use:

well its colder where you are so thats why you have 5w 20. Here in FL it says 5W30, but some even run 15W40 since it is so hot down here

i've had 6 qts of 15w-50 in my garage for a few months.. can't wait to throw em in!

I run amsoil SSO 0W30.

I think a 0W30 would be your best bet in your climate.

I use the AMSOIL 0w30. Always have.

Running 15w50 is foolish. You will get less internal cooling and lubrication and a ton more start up wear.

5W50 FTW won't freeze in winter and won't boil in summer so you're all good.

Why would you do it every 2,000? Are you running Synthetic?

Honestly there's no reason to change it every 2,000 with the way oil is made these days it's just not neccesary. I mean there just aren't any benifets to doing it that often.

Except maybe your own peace of mind, but that's why I will be running Sythetic.

i use 5W30, but haven't switched to synethic yet. Going to after this vacation. Should I just stay with 5W30? or switch to a different weight? The X has 25,000 miles.

Bought the truck new and run Mobile 1 (5w30) for the last 50K miles.

If you really want to be manly, run straight 100w motor oil. You can get it at airports.

I stick to the recommended viscosity, and I use Mobile One because it's almost as cheap as conventional oil. I probably change my oil more frequently than most...5K miles with Mobile One. I want the inside of the engine to look even better than the outside.
