Was a little warm out tonight so i played around with my dual action buffer (thanks Ms. Stevenredx) and some of my meguiars polishes/wax. Completed about a half the truck over the past couple weeks just messing around a little each day after work.

Did a 50/50 shot on the bumper and you can really see the difference. The entire truck got clayed/polished and waxed by hand just before X-Fest and it looked good until the halogen lights hit it. Still amazed at the results gained by a machined.

Machine: Porter Cable 7424

Polish's:
Meguiars Professional Speed Glaze with Sonus polishing pad
Meguiars Professional Show Car Glaze with Sonus Finishing pad

Wax:
Meguiars NXT 2.0 - x2 coats with Sonus Finishing Pad

wow, that is an amazing difference!

yeah... especially when i "thought" my paint was in great condition, had no idea it still had this in it.

Really gets me excited to get the whole truck finished when spring comes around.

Nice work! I agree the DA polisher from Meguiars with the right compounds is awesome. The shine it put in my BSP was amazing. Zero micro scratches. Although that was a few months ago and now my paint is in need of some polishing again. It can be tiring but it's well worth it:rockon:

hey steven have your door handles, hood scoop and fender flares turned pink? or do you leave your X parked indoors?

no matter how much i wash/wax/polish and clay my truck i cant prevent the color from fading. maybe its because i leave the X park outside all the time.

do you think astroshield will somewhat help bring back the color?

My truck sits under a car port pretty much all the time... My handles, flares, scoop and front bumper have faded tho. The front bumper, handles and scoop are painted with a one stage paint. That's why your applicators will turn red when polishing/waxing them. Try some Meguiars Show Car Glaze (M07) it's very oily and was actually formulated for one stage paints. That alone will bring back a lot of color and you can lock it in for awhile with a couple coats of a good wax/sealer. There's really no permanent fix other than regular car (polish/wax).

Probably close $200 for the buffer and accessories (including pads, backing plate and some good MF towels and bonnets)

You can also rack up some big money in your polishes/waxes pretty quickly...

In the last pic that's about $200 worth of waxes, detailers, car wash and polishes. Just remember, different chemicals, pads etc... sometimes need to be used to do different types of paint correction. Just be careful, this stuff can get addictive.

Just pricing what i used to accomplish what you see in the pics was

PC 7424 - $120
Backing Plate - $19
Sonus Polishing Pad - $12
2x Sonus Finishing Pad - $24

Meguiars - M80 $13.49
Meguiars - M07 $11.99
Meguiars - NXT $15.99
