arizona x-runner and blastap: i agree with both of you guys. I naturally started riding street bikes because i rode a lot of dirt bikes. In Hawaii (Big Island) we have nothing but long open roads.
In high school i used to do more road racing...but around my senior years started to get more into stunting. I strongly believe that both aspects can learn a lot from each other....stunters and road racers a like.
My only problem are guys who thing that are BA...**** happens...that's why you wear a helmet, gloves, boots, and leathers. You can't predict when you are going to crash. 1 thing with street bikes; we can go down from a meazly pebble in the road or some dirt...but at the same time you can crash just by getting cut off from a inattentive driver. why spend months in rehab for something that takes 2 minutes to put on.
I'm lucky enough where I have never layed down any of my street bikes. I have got into some hairy situations before but managed to keep my bikes on 2 wheels and not lying on the pavement. I'm sure riding dirt bikes for most of my life really helps out but at the same time i know my riding level and I'm not trying to waste my life or body on a dumb idea as like not wearing a helmet.
Yeah most of those guys are the videos think they are BA...that's why you see all those crashes. too much throttle, not feathering back break on wheelies...guys not installing steering dampers before they attempts indos/stoppies...it does take a lot of skill to stunt and road race but it also takes a lot of practice...
Stunting on open highways and streets is very stupid...But i would be a hipocrite if i didn't admit to throwing a wheelie or two, a stoppie/indo here and there, and a burnout or two...yeah its an adrenaline rush...but i'm a little older and a little smarter...+ if you caught by cops...a revoked license, tickets, fines, maybe jail time...not worth it IMO
