Your exhaust manifolds? ... Why? :hmmmm2:
My manifolds keep cracking. If it happens again Toyota is going to see if replacing my moter mounts will help with the problem. They think its from the vibration or something.:dontknow:

Thanks for the offer Gadget :top: but I have already gotten the parts taken care of if Toyota doesn't man up and agree to fix or atleast help out. Will find out Monday when they finally call me back which route I will be taking.

Took my X to the dealer for S/C install. While the tech was out test driving it, he got a little throttle happy and spun the clutch through. It was pretty weak to begin with, those stock clutches suck!

Since this thread is already stickied, I'll add this link here. It appears the FJ guys are having the same throwout bearing adventure we are:
http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/engine-performance/42991-throwout-bearing-chirp-squeak.html

I'm on my way back to the dealership right now... Pray for me

Appointment is set for Monday morning. We'll see where it goes from there. Anybody want a Fidanza flywheel with less than 2k miles on it, PM me with offers. I think overdriven called dibs a while back, but I will have one for sale shortly.

UPDATE: I dropped my truck back off for round 2 this morning. Got a call around 3pm stating that a bunch of parts were ordered. It turns out that my original throwout bearing was NOT replaced. It was only cleaned and lubed and reinstalled. I think I might be getting the clutch pedal TSB too. I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with anything, but I'm not complaining. Supposedly the flywheel does not have to be removed to do whatever it is they're going to do, so I can't get my stock one put back on yet, unfortunately.

Oh, well... I'll just have them do it if/when I take it back. Still no indication of a new tranny, so we'll see how long I make it this time. To be continued...

Parts replaced this time were:
FORK, SUB-ASSY
BEARING ASSY
SUPPORT, RELEASE

Service Advisor text states:
FOUND THROWOUT BEARING TO BE MAKING NOISE DUE TO EXCESSIVE CLEARANCE IN BEARING "???" AND FORK ASSEMBLY. REPLACED BEARING, FORK, AND FORK PIVOT BALL STUD

I can't make out the part numbers from the raggedy camera phone pic I took, so I'll update those when I get to see the paper again.

mine went out I think around 2809 miles around the end of Oct last year on an 09, got it fixed under warranty.

Well it just went out again yesterday at 7400 miles! Its at the dealership now, but i feel that they're not going to want to cover it again...I'll find out tomorrow, i'm gonna go ahead and order the Stage II Cltuch and Liteweight Flywheel and see if they are willing to cover the rest.

:motz:well apparently the dealership said they arnt gonna cover me on the clutch going out again. I'm so dissapointed in Toyota right now. I cant believe this would happened again on an 09!!!! What the hell am I paying half a grand a month for? Crap? Is there anyone that can chime in on the design of the clutch and what makes it faulty? Why do I think its faulty? well the first one went out around 3K and this one went out at 7K, thats around the same mileage on each one. I think that if I would of taken it to a different dealership this would no have been the case, but this dealership doesnt want to cover it again...I dont mind springing the cash for a better Clutch system but I dont feel that I should have to cover anything else (towing, and the initial inspection and teardown labor) cuz thats another 1g

What exactly happened to yours XRangel? Is it the throwout bearing or did you have some kind of mechanical failure?

exaclty? dont know but they said I needed a new clutch assembly, they said the cltuch gave out? I know basic mechanics but I'm not aware on how a clutch gives out exaclty? Tears apart? the material on the clutch gets worn down? I forgot where I read it but something about the way the clutch is designed and the addition of hollow rivets holding it together possibly playing a role on why they tend to give out?

Interesting. If the person at the dealership told you the clutch "just gave out", it's probably a good idea to make them describe to you exactly what the problem is. Not only is it just good information to carry if you ever have any future problems, but if this becomes a recurring issue and ends up in some kind of arbitration, you'll be informed enough to make a case for yourself.

What were the symptoms that caused you to take it in to the dealer in the first place?
