Second time having clutch replaced, the forks on the pressure plate were bent. They replaced clutch, t/o, pressure plate, and resurfaced the flywheel. 20k miles. I was told to take it easy on the new one

Question for those warrantied

For those who got the warranty stuff done, what was the series of events? Especially those of you with aftermarket stuff installed...

I have an appointment for tomorrow morning to the service department. I already know they are going to hear the squeal then do what they do. But...
I need to get my hands on a stock clutch (already have my old pressure plate and flywheel).

Do they typically diagnose first, then if I need to, schedule a follow-up for the actual service? or will they already have my truck disassembled, tell me it's covered and start working right away?

If it's the latter, I'll just order a clutch first before I even take it in.

Ok the dealer had to replace the clutch pedal mount on my X ,so they didn't give me a hard time. The nosie problem from pedal was a bolt and shim no put on at the factory. So had other problems that helped me. I don't know if you had this problem or not but if you did then this will help you get the clutch replaced!:top:

they use a stethoscope to ascertain where the squeak is coming from. the guy told me if it goes away when you press the clutch pedal in it is the tranny or input shaft. if it only squeals with the pedal depressed it is the t.o. bearing. I pmed you with more info

I left on my b&m for the diagnosis. they are swapping it, installing a stage three clutch, lt flywheel and redline with the new tranny.

I could've told them that, lol. I don't understand why they want to keep my truck all day :hmmmm2: They said I HAVE to drop it off and leave it. I've been through this once before.

Ah well, as long as it doesn't cost me any money I'll do what the folks say

I saw why they said that this morning. Saturday is service day. I got there at 7am and the service line was jam-packed. They drove my truck around to the side. I guess that's where the real techs work, rather than the oil-change/tune-up chronies. I was there an hour or so then had a ride come pick me up so I can go back to sleep

UPDATE: *Swear Words!!!*
Service guy says that ONCE AGAIN they are just going to change the throwout bearing. They aren't in the same region as Avondale Toyota so they have no idea that this is my 3rd time aside from me telling them so. I went back with my paperwork but everybody was on their way out to lunch. Supposedly ALL the parts were ordered, so when I go back the Tues after Thanksgiving, we'll see what this dialogue turns into...

Update... I took my truck back in today. They say they will not cover ANYTHING because I have the Competition clutch kit installed. Grand total, including bell housing $1800.00+

I told them to make a call higher up and get back to me later on.

If I have to pay out of pocket to fix this shit, my truck and all parts will be for sale immediately after.

Please advise....

Can't you just put the stock clutch back in and take it to a different dealer and have them fix the TO?

That means I need to get my hands on a stock clutch assembly... meaning I need to pay SX TOY a visit. Fvck I hate Toyota at times like this.

They're still gonna shaft me for 5 hrs of labor either way

FYI, my truck is sitting at the dealership up on the lift with the transmission, flywheel, and clutch on the floor.

Well... no dice. They won't budge. (Not-so) funny thing is, I just called my service guy in AZ and he said they would've covered it no question.

Oh well... I'll have some stuff up for sale within the next day or 2.

Question... if I tell Toyota to eff themselves and give me my truck back (since I didn't authorize any actual work) how much money can they charge me? (although the tranny is already down and apart)

I am not sure but I would try telling them that you can't afford it and you want your truck back.
then take it to another dealer we have plenty in sfl

That's my plan. I'm about to call them right now. I went through this crap in AZ too until I found out about Cejay at Avondale Toyota, thanks to Beau and Bryan. I just spoke to the service manager over there and he himself told my that this situation I'm in is bullshit but he can't do anything about it b/c I'm not there to bring my truck over.

If you did not authorize the work then they really cant take it apart. I have a stock clutch with pressure plate and flywheel if you need it. Its in great shape.

I've read a bunch of threads on this site regarding this clutch issue and now I'm starting to get worried.

I have an 08 with 13000 miles on it and lately I've been noticing a creek/squeak when I press/depress the clutch. It's also been getting a little more difficult going into to gear, especially second.

Does this sound like the dreaded bearing issue?
