Tacoma Airbag recall 06-09

Just heard about this in the news, I was wondering if anyone dealing with Toyota would have any knowledge on this. All that I see is that it involves 05-09 Tacoma's, but nothing more. I haven't received anything yet, has anyone heard anything on it and if the X is needed to be taken in? Here's the article.

On Wednesday, the auto maker disclosed an issue with about 495,000 Tacoma models ranging from 2005 to early 2009 that could prevent the trucks' driver-side airbags from inflating in a crash. Friction between the steering wheel's spiral cable and its assembly could cause it to lose connectivity to the driver's air bag module over time, the company said.

SO is that why my airbag light came on all by itself randomly ? My airbag has never been deployed. But for some reason my airbag light in the dash has been lit up for sometime now.... hmmmm

Ya my 05 was in a hard front impact and no airbag was deployed. My 99 Dak R/T was t-boned and my DS airbag went off...WTF!

thinking about it, I rolled my first X and the driver side air bag never deployed. It was an 05 too

Check with the dealer today and no recall notice for my XR. Should be notified by Toyota directly by mail or e-mail if it requires service.

great, now they are going to send me even more junk in the mail, trying to get my truck serviced for important "recalls"....

Just tell then the services are up to date and you only need the recall done. Make it clear you have no intension to buy anything right now.

Don't assume until the code it checked from the airbag control module. If the fault is unrelated your going to need to get what ever else it needs taken care of. Of course if it is they'll fix it for free.

I wonder if it's just the steering wheel airbag for the 09?? I have 6 airbags that might not even work if one might not work properly from friction.

And I just received the modify pedal-reflash-all weather floor mats recall notice in the mail. I wonder if they will give me just the floor mats and not do the rest of that crap lol

ok for all u wondering what it exactly is for the recall its the spiral cable for the tacomas with no steering wheel controls which for thoes that dont no its right behind the actual steering wheel it self that deploys the drivers side airbag if u have questions on any other recalls let me no i can give you the exact thing from toyota that they send the techs
