I would caution anyone from using anti-seize on the spark plugs AND torquing it to 15 ft*lbs as this write up suggests. I agree that the Toyota service manual specifies 15 ft*lbs, but if that is intended to be a dry-thread torque (no lubricant/anti-seize) by doing both you will be over torquing the plugs. I hope the engineers at Toyota over designed the thread engagement so they won't strip out if the threads are lubed. But I don't know anyone that wants to finds out the hard way.

You only have to remove the top bolt on the bracket and loosen the bottom to get it swung out the way. Otherwise thats on the money

You don't need to loosen anything or take off anything yes its easier but if youu use a long extension or two you don't need to just put in the ikh 24's yesterday used two 6 inch extensions for the one closest to the firewall on the drivers side you just have to sneak them through behind the heater core hoses to tighten I do not use anti seize ever and I tighten them just a little bit if you really pay close attention while your tightening them you can actually feel the washer start to almost squash down take it it for what its worth but that's how I do it and.I have never had no issues

Where do you get your information? Been using anti sieze for over 2 decades without a single problem. German, Japanese and America engines Car and Motorcyle.

Its great for Oxygen sensors also.

^^^^exactly!
Head threads=aluminum
Plug threads=steel
What happens when dissimilar metals are in contact with one another? U get corrosion, this is why u need anti-seize on the plug threads. It's also a good idea to use dielectric grease on the spark plug boots so that they too don't seize onto the plugs.

does anyone know why toyota uses two brands of sparkplugs in these motors????

I havent found anyone or anything that has been able to confirm fact, but I've read some speculate it has to do with their supplier contracts.

I changed mine, thanks to the write up mentioned on tw by chris, to all denso.

Gotta question, the die electric grease, do you just put a thin layer on end of plug or on bottom of coil? I am going to be changing the plugs for the first time so I'd like to get it right.

I found two different set in mine Denso and NGK. I put E3 for a change, no problem. I do have a new set I got from Gadget just in case.

I just ordered some ngk plugs LFR7AIX-11. One step colder and went with the ngk due to bad previous experience with denso. A friend had an electrode break on a denso and it took out his engine:( Denso may be fine but I figured I would post the ngk equivalent part number.

Either one....but I usually just wipe it around the plug end instead of filling up the boot hole.

P.S. Those connectors on the coils are the biggest PITA of this whole process.
