Sorry to hear about the leak. Its kinda funny you say that you have a leak. I too have had this problem, when I first got my APR shifter he forgot to put in a part and man it made a big mess. When I started to have shifting problems I thought it was my shifter (it was my clutch and pilot bearing) but I order the white lightning (think) which has no seal at all and it made a big mess and the manufacturer has dumbfounded. They sent me another shifter they make and same deal (NO SEAL). I told them that the factory magnum Tremec shifter with the 2 rubber boots didn't leak and they took the shift shaft and cut it for a dog bone and I ran it for a few thousand miles but was very unhappy with the throw. I disassembled the APR shifter and put a little lithium grease on the grey seal or whatever it is and that helped but it still seeps a bit after really hammering down a few times. If you figure it out Please Share, Good Coupe.

I am probably going to run the stock T56 Magnum shifter for a little while. I took it apart and it should be easy to make the stock shifter into a short throw shifter.

Just cuz its a coupe product I'm not even going to run the stock one then. :top: unless the magnum uses a different pilot bearing?

Coupe, what throw out bearing did you use and where did you get it?

Be aware. Jiffy-Tite valved set was ~$65. A set of the Staubli's is ~$300

So, what all is needed to do this swap? Partslist... Could one simply take it to a speed shop of sorts and say "here is the truck, when I come back I expect to have a t56 transmission in there"?
Is it really worth it?

Worth it? Yes! The one thing that they will likely need, is the bell housing.

Page 1 has the parts list.

Been there. Done that. Poorest design ever. Had mine make problems in just a few months. Then was told by APR that I installed it wrong. That the spacer was pressed on, and that the spring shouldn't have deformed from the weight of the spacer.

Needless to say, I love my McLeod adjustable TOB. It also requires a spacer, but that goes BEHIND the TOB. And it uses flex lines, with the adapter that I posted on the 1st page. Works like a charm.

OK, check my math here.

Dim A is 3"

Dim B is 2"

Gives me 1"

So, .750 plus .125 shim gets me in the sweet spot, right??

It is clear that the other assembly did not have enough spacer and the bearing was over extending. I am sure this lead to its early demise, I think...

If you are referring to the AC DELCO, it was easily due the weight of the thick heavy spacer at the front of the AC DELCO TOB.

It put a lot of downward force on the TOB which is wasn't designed to handle. Wearing out the beaing in it prematurely, and deforming the spring.

The easier way to design it from the get go would have been to put the spacer on the back side, and replace the hard lines flexible braided lines.

Got my XRunner back together.

I used the bearing that Coupe suggested.

I used the spacers that I listed above.

The clutch pedal feel is 100% better than it was before. Very smooth action and no vibration.

Got the remote bleeder line. The one I got is way to long, but it worked well. I was able to gravity bleed it for a while and then sit in the driver's seat and work the remote bleeder for two pumps leaning out the door. Rock solid.

Went for a very short test drive with my trans setup with different ratios. Drive's so much nicer than it did before.

Can't wait for a chance for a longer test drive.
