So my stock tires have about had it and need a little help choosing new ones. Im on Enkei Kojin wheels 18x8.5. I usually just drive my truck on the street but when I do drive it, I drive it hard so Id like something that hooks up a bit better since I have the supercharger now. Im looking at either the Pirelli P-zero 245/45/18 front - 275/45/18 rear. or the BFG Potenza RE-11 245/45/18 front - 275/40/18 rear. any experience with either? or another suggestion in a similar size thats available from tire rack?

Hankook make a good summer tire and they have the sizes you want. I put them on 2 summers ago.

I had the Pzeros. I was not happy with them. I ended up with a big bubble in the side wall.

Bfg kdw's. That's all I have to say

Gonna have to agree with this. I'm on my second set now. Third set will be on sometime next summer. While they may wear a little fast the benefits of how well they perform make up for it. Some people complain that they are noisy but I've never heard any noise. Dtlt, urd y pipe and magnaflow catback make the noise go away lol

The kdw's are good tires. Between the two choices you put out there, I'd go with the potenza's. Kdw's would be my first choice though.

First of all, P Zero is a Max Performance tire...RE-11 is Extreme Performance tire...they are not really comparable categories. How many miles are you planning on driving? How good/bad are the road and weather conditions? Can you elaborate on "driving hard"...highway pulls, drag strip, canyon carving, stop light racing, etc? Do you or your passengers care how loud the tire/road noise is?

That said...I had the P Zeros on a different car and had mixed feelings. Grip was really good and predictable when new. However, they wore out much much quicker (than other Max Summer tires I owned) and the at-the-limit handling and feel drop wasn't very liniar...more like "I am a driving god!" one weekend to "Oh **** I am gonna eat it" the next...

I have not owned RE-11 myself, but ridden in cars that have. From my brief butt dyno impressions, it is an autocross/track tire. I personally would not daily it. It does poorly in non-optimal weather and/or surface condition.

I have the kdw's they are a good to hook but I like to drive fast on corners and I feel like they flex too much, thats where I feel the potezas are better they have a stiffer sidewall.

I had kdw's 2 on both my gtos .my option there OK..I had no noise issue's but they wear out quick.. Not a good tire when it's cold..had nittos on my camaro..i thought the nittos were a better tire...but my favorite tire is dunlop z 2 starspec was on my track car..loved them. But that's ..a summer...track tire....I'm still deciding my tires for my xrunner..I'm going to track this beast this year..good luck ..let me know what you get:)

I had goodyear eagle F1 supercars on mine for awhile but they wore out really quick. In a year and a half they were toast but they were a beast track tire but not to good in the rain

Iv had the KDW's on a few of my cars including my old X-Runner. Unfortunately they dont have them in the size I want.

Well Iv had the truck for 2 1/2 years and iv put about 34k on it in that time. Although for a good year and a half it was my daily. I have another car now that I daily so the truck only gets taken out on nice days to cruise/ go to car shows. I usually do highway pulls, stop light racing and that sort of thing. I pretty much know im not gonna get any traction laying into 1st gear at this point short of buying slicks but id like some consistent grab when I go to bang 2nd. I dont plan to drive it in the rain or in winter time. I dont care about tire noise really. I have a feeling im gonna go with the potenzas

I dont need anything that crazy lol I have a set of 15s that Im going to buy radials or slicks for, for the drag strip :top:

How about the Nitto NT555's?? they have some pretty solid reviews and are a good bit cheaper. Im sure they wont hook quite as well tho

It is an ultra high performance tire...so in theory it will have lower handling and grip characteristics compared to other choices listed above. It is been a while since I drove on a set, so I will refrain from commenting.

yeah i figured the NT555 wouldnt grip as well but im sure it wont wear as fast either. and for $300 less then my other choices it might be the way im gonna go.

Yup, that's typically the trade off. That tire has been around for a long time, so it has to be doing something right  As long at you are not buying Ling Longs or Nankangs you should be good
