Wanna trade seats with me??

Hey guys, as most of you know, I used to have an '05 RR that was totaled. I've since bought a black 2012 X but I really miss the seats from the '05 - '08 years. If anyone local to the central Florida area with an '05 - '08 model who would be willing to trade for my 2012 seats that would be awesome!

The seats in the newer models sit noticeably higher in the truck. The head rests are slightly different, and yes the seats do have side airbags in them (which makes me unable to use my TRD seat covers). I just liked the older version of our seats better... along with a whole lot of other things I miss about the '05 I had. :frown:

maybe try finding a 05-whatever year Tacoma and take the seat bracket off and swap that with your seat..

Im sure you could find a taco in a junk yard buy the seats and use the brackets

That's a good point! I think that would work as long as the problem is just the brackets, and not the actual seat sitting up higher. Thanks man!

This won't solve your problem of not being able to use your seat covers though.

This is true, I didn't think about that. Yeah, I think I'd rather just get some older seats, or buy some nice racing seats and hope they sit a little lower like I was used to.

That's a good point, I'm assuming there's some sort of wiring for the airbags in the newer models that the '05-'08 models don't have. There might be something a person could buy to make them work though... I dunno. :dontknow:

You'd have to fool the airbag ECU into thinking it sees normal condition if you run the 05-08 seats. sounds pretty dangerous. I wouldn't want to mess around with the air bags wiring. If you mess up the airbags could go off, yep seen it happen before. I suggest going to the dealer and comparing part numbers between seat tracks. If you find a totalled XR for part out you could scoop the driver seat and try swapping the tracks. that sounds more like what you're trying to do lol

Even the 05 seats sit high I plan to fit mine buy cutting the lower seat frame and getting the apostrophe shop to re shape the bottom seat only issue I can think of is trying to find fabric


Oh and if you do this your air bag system will still work

What do the new seats look like? Do u have any pictures? Is this a direct swap? I know the airbags won't work but I don't have them now so that doesn't bother me. I'm located on ocala fl
