I just had to deal with the 500 mile break-in myself. After a month of pampering the slipping clutch. Man did it feel good to be able to get back on it.
Go figure, I get about 70 miles on that sucker and my drivers side BBK caliper started leaking on the lower street side piston. It should still be under warranty but I found a seal kit just in case Toyota decides to say "nope, rear discs are not stock and neither is the hydraulic throw out bearing".

You'd fall in love with driving.
Ya I decided today I'm going to start putting money away and hopefully there is a Black Friday sale at urd next year and I can pick up the bell housing kit cheaper. I found a guy in Texas who will build a t-56 with the shorter first gear for about $1900 and ship it for about $200. Not sure if that's a good deal but that's fresh rebuild and upgraded to handle up to 700hp. What and where are you guys getting your t-56?

In my case I bought everything through URD a bit at a time. The only reason I went with the upgrade was when I bought the truck (wanted one since 2005) I intend on never letting it go so the investment is long term for me. I know there are many cars and trucks that are faster but I'm in this one for the long haul. It is an absolute blast to drive, love the look and the interior.

I bought my truck new in feb 2006 and I don't ever plan on getting rid of it. I don't know why I haven't made a build thread most likely because I don't want to take the time to write everything down and know what I spent.

Every body needs a hobby. All sorts of people invest time and money into those hobbies. When you're passionate about your hobby, it becomes a worthy investment in gratification.

Wanted to keep the center console but make it look like it came from the factory with the shifter in the new location. I also wanted to go black so I happened to stumble across an entire center console on EBay for $229 out of an automatic, lol. I think it's going to work with a little fab work. Now I can machine the stick to the height that I need. Going to have to modify the plastic automatic shifter cover to accept a modified Toyota leather shifter boot but I'm pretty sure I can make it look clean!

Na, there are 2 more that go in front of the stick shift I just didn't put them in the rectangle holder yet. Both large enough to hold a red bull 20oz.

A little late for this information, but I had made the parts, and documented which parts work together for an OEM fit, with the factory leather boot and original center console.

Really? With the dark grey center console? I decided to scratch the automatic shifter section and am looking at making an aluminum plate with tig welded aluminum cup holders, shit load of work though and time is a rarity with my work schedule. I really like the look of the dark grey though. The one I bought on EBay is clean, has a small crack I can repair but when I opened the center console last night holy shit it stunk like weed bad! Bad enough to where it stunk up my cab lmao! Did you post any of it in a thread?

Unfortunately no, not with the center console which you have. With the normal light grey console which comes with the manual.

It will take some getting used to for sure. It is do-able though. The sprung hub from URD is stout though.

Cheers to dropping a trans on Thanksgiving. Lol
Only issue is it will ware out faster then a sprung clutch there is no give so it just will slip more

I finally started making the console today. I'm using a Porsche 981 shift boot, rolled the aluminum on the English wheel and machined an adapter for the Porsche boot. I'll have enough room for 2 4" cup holders like the old one had. I still have to finish smoothing everything out then cut the holes for the cup holders and boot adapter then tig weld it all up. it's getting there!

Now that is fancy. Got a lot of craftsmanship time in there. Looking forward to the finished product.

Any updates?

I haven't had a lot of time to work on it but I got the cup holders tig welded, still need to install ( I didn't take a pic , just a pipe with a bottom lol). I was messing around and started making cup holders for the front of the stick shift because I ran out of Argon on Saturday afternoon so I was stuck.

Was able to cut the hole and recess the shift boot adapter, I'm going to tack it in place then cut the holes for the cup holders tomorrow.

I also got around to making a plate for the shifter seal, I actually ended up using the stock shifter seal, cut the shifter up to steal the small seal there and mounted it to the top of the stock shifter seal ( it has the same ID for the new shifter rod and also is a tight fit in the top of the stock seal.

Test fit in the truck, ran through all gears to make sure clearances were on before welding tomorrow.
