Question (possible brake master cylinder upgrade?)

I've been following the Tundra/Tacoma caliper upgrade. I don't remember in which thread it was mentioned, but someone posted about the brake pedal feeling "soft" after doing this swap. Is this an issue, and if it is how can it be addressed? I'm asking as I will be in need of brakes in the not too distant future and this looks promising. Thank you.

Because of bigger calipers, require more fluid pressure, giving the soft pedal feel even though it's the same master cylinder bore size on all 05-15 Tacoma. People have asked "what about a bigger master cylinder?" So far theres not a direct swap for the master cylinder. I may have to bleed the brakes again to see if there was trapped air when I first did the swap or shim the brake pads because the ISF rear rotors are a couple millimeters thinner than the Tacoma front rotors.

Did some research. What looks like the body of the brake master cylinder of the 04-07 Highlander looks the same as 05-08 tacoma master brake cylinder just different reservoir. Also the brake line output is in the same locations. Highlander has a 7/8" bore, Tacoma is a 13/16" bore, I don't know how much of a 1/16" will make a difference.

Done some more research. A lot of Lexus have the same body style master cylinder. I'm thinking you would have to frankenstine master cylinders for it to fit and work. The brake booster bore size is smaller than the other master cylinders. I like some to buy some to test this theory out when the junks yards are open.

I can order some master cylinders at work to see if they match up. They will be rebuilt ones. But the casing and reservoir is all the matters mainly. Only problem is finding a reservoir for the clutch fluid

If the master cylinder body is the same, then the reservoir should be able to swap over. I just want to confirm there is a 7/8" bore in the Highlander vs the Tacoma 13/16" bore.

What about the reservoir sensor and feed line to clutch master cylinder? Does anyone use a stand alone reservoir for their clutch master cylinder?

I think you can just remove the reservoir from the Tacoma master cylinder and put it on the other one

I checked that thread out pretty awesome. Hopefully you will be offering those adapters to us xru guys. I am very interested in at the very least the plate but a full kit with everything I need to get this working would be ideal.

i have everything in the works right now. for the manual cars a separate res. will be needed for the clutch master cylinder.

This is what I would love to see. Or at least a link or some extra info on where to purchase the extra res would be good too. Even if the only thing offered is the adapter just the info to buy the other parts would be ok with me as well. Basically like the couple guys who made brakets for bbk.

what i plan on doin is either welding a fitting on the wilwood res. or have a bulkhead fitting that can be used with the res.
