Okay, I could've SWORN I saw a thread asking this same question not too long ago, but I'll be damned if I can find it now.

Between selling some truck parts, computer gear and some old music stuff on eBay, it looks like I will be able to fund my PS3 purchase without dipping into the old pay check.

My questions are for the PS3 owners...

1. Which game to get? I'll probably only gonna be able to get one to start and I want one that you guys play online so that I can join in.

2. Which version to get? The old 80 or 120 or the new Slim?

3. Do I need a headset or something for online use? I already have a pretty badass 5.1 headset for my PC, but I don't know if it'll work with the PS3. What outputs are available?

4. Looks like a 250GB version is coming out November 3 for $349 MSRP (so it'll probably be about $300 - the same for the 120 now). Should I just wait for that one?

You guys will save me some time scouring the net. Thanks!

Uncharted 1 and 2...AWESOME games and GREAT story, resistance are GOOD..Ratchet and Clank tools for destruction was GREAT and the new Ratchet and clank comes out next week..I cant wait for that one. KillZone 2 is also badass

Oh that $350 is the price. They dont go down from MSRP. it will be $50 more then the 120gig version
I would def get one of the slim ones. I cant help much about online stuff cause I dont ever go online to play

I would say my favorite game online is "Rainbow Six: Vegas 2". The online play is ridiculously awesome. The new need for speed is pretty cool online too.

You don't have to have a headset, obviously you do if you want to talk to the other players while playing (i still haven't bothered to get one). I think it's compatible with any bluetooth ones though.

I probably would.

The huge game for online right now is Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Though Call of Duty 2 is coming out soon so you might want to just wait for that one. You can use a standard bluetooth headset with the PS3 so if you have one for your phone, just sync it with the playstation in the bluetooth menu and your connected. Whether you go with the 80 or 120 is your choice it just depends on what you want to use your PS3 for. I have the 80 GB and don't think i will ever use all the space. I personally have been putting pictures, music and movies on mine as well as playing video games and still am not close to using all the storage capacity.

Call of Duty. There is plenty of players online. I don't know if anyone here plays it but it's a bad a$$ game. Headset wise if i'm not mistaken you have to have a specific PS3 one. Have fun brotha.

For headsets you can pretty much use any bluetooth headset, but the sound quality might blow. You can also get a regular USB headset.. they're not bad. The PS3 branded headsets are best for quality purposes... but you can hook up your headset via the settings on the ps3 yourself, and if it doesn't work well with the system tehre's other options.

As for the size of system, it just depends on what you're using it for. I know most of my friends, including my roommates, have the 120g, but they use an external harddrive for storing movies and music and whatnot. Works great. Games and everything else are just on the system ...

as long as its a bluetooth headset it should sync to the ps3...some older model bluetooth headsets may not be compatible...i'm using a jabra right now...love it especially with the noise canceling feature...no more echoing and hearing my own voice...

MODERN WARFARE 2

Sorry guys, FPS games for me will ALWAYS be for the PC. That's why I built a banging PC. The graphics on a console will never compare to what my 1GB Video Card can throw down and I never thought moving with a console gamepad was nearly as easy or fast as using a high DPI Laser Mouse and a keyboard.

If I buy MW2, it'll be for the PC.

I have a wheel/pedal combo, flight stick/throttle/rudder pedal combo and even an Infrared HUD (heads up display) unit for my PC. The PC accelerates IMO at FPS games and flight simulators... beyond that, I think it's a loss. The wheel/pedal combo on the PC is cool and realistic but it's a PITA to setup and move every time to play and the reality is that steering with a gamepad is just plain easier.

If I get the console, it'll be for more arcade-type games. I keep the sims for the more powerful PC. :top:

I really like the looks of DIRT2. I may pick that up. Online play is very important to me. I can't stand sitting in a room and playing with myself. I like other men to play with too. So put that in your sig line and smoke it!

Yes, I still consider DIRT and NFS and even GranTurismo Arcade style play. Ask Tapp about his online racing experience when he came to my house. NOTHING arcade-like about it. It's as real as it gets. Wheel... pedals... paddle shifters... heads up display... in car view ONLY... real-time online opponents... real world damage (you get the idea). But sometimes you don't want it that real, you just want to have some fun with some friends.

Its okay, I understood what you meant in terms of arcade style play ;) I used to run a video game store for four years lol.

NFS is probably my favorite series, my favorite of it being NFS:U2.
