Can't go wrong with a v-dub. I also heard some models having electrical issues. Too bad most models are made in Mexico now.

You'll love that car!

the gf has an 09 Rabbit sport 4door with a 5spd manual and that car is fantastic. If vw made a truck the size of a taco i'd be all over it!

shes got over 70,000 in about 8 months (2hours total commute daily) since new and its had 0 problems short of her ipod adapter thing stopped working and one interior light bulb blew lol.

serious electrical gremlins for sure.......NOT.

My bro has a 2001 1.8 turbo and everything is breaking on it. Just stupid shit like all the interior locks and hinges and little doors and stuff. Not to mention his timing belt broke and bent all his valves, $2300 later engine is fixed.

Just too much money to fix or maintane one of those, not to mention it's FWD:thumpdown:

I think it looks like nowadays everything you buy is bound to have issues, its what issues you would rather deal with is what determines what you want to buy. I like those vdubs, and dmc had a sick ass vdub to model that one after....Parts are expensive but if you want to play, you gotta pay. If not then you should just drive a chevy aveo. :frown: I say if its going to be cheaper get it. Everyone who says they want cheaper to save money ends up spending the extra dough to mod anyway so don't follow in hewhoridesatnight's footsteps if you can help it :top:

Good to hear your keeping the XR! I had a VR6 Jetta, and I liked the car. But once things start going out in 'em, it seems they just start falling apart.

Just my experience...
