So i finally got my truck back from the dealer and I am having started issues. No big deal i am on the hunt for some contacts cause I really dont want to get rid of my factory one.

Last night after meeting a chick after she got off of work at the Casino i decided to step on it on the hi-way. I came over a bridge and at the end of the bridge i saw 2 cops and i was too late to try and stop. I let go of the accelerator as i came accross them also slamming on my breaks. I slowed down and put my hazards and pulled over without them having to chase me.

There were 2 cops and they were both pissed, all of the sudden 4 more cop cars showed up.

To make a long story short I got clocked at 124MPH and it came out to be a $1000 fine plus a court date.

Has anyone tried to get a lawyer to cut back on the fees for anything like this. I have gotten tickets in the past, but this is my first offense to show up in front of a judge.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

that sucks it is good that they didn't take you to jail.
if you want to try and reduce or avoid the fines at least get a consultation with a lawyer. most give you that free. good luck bro

Any lawyer that you'll go to consult with will tell you to hire them cuz they have to go to court with you to work with the prosecutor but in that case they'll still charge you. But if they'll try to suspend your license the lawyer may find a way out of it. So either way ur paying you kno

Sucks man, good luck on the ticket.
If that was in Cali, your truck would been taking away and taken to jail.
If caught racing, your truck gets crushed!

Yeah they have that Law here in Tampa as well, but the cops was pretty nice and I dont talk back. I just sit there and take it.

I am trying to find a good Lawyer to help me with this, but so far nothing. I am still shaking from the situation.

I called a Lawyer my future Sys in Law told me about and the lady said that as long as it is in Tampa they charge 99 bucks to try and get it dismissed or reduce the fine.

You did the smartest thing out there. I've flown by cops a few times before. Did the same thing you did by pulling over before they had a chance to even get behind me.

Made them much more polite I can imagine. I don't know what the charges would have been, but I was able to get away with a much lightened ticket in those times. I'm not sure if your's stuck to the book or not, but you did do the right thing by stopping that way, and manning up the situation like so. Always better to have a pissed off officer happier to work with you than on edge and ready to "Protect and Serve" on you...lol

Keep us posted with what your Lawyer says, and how this goes. Godspeed (no pun intended)

I was thinking about that, but they would need proof and that would have been way to hard. I just told the officer i had to take a dump and I could not use any other bathroom, but my house. lol

I got my first EVER ticket last year in Maryland for 87 in a 55, $500 fine and 5? points... Hired a lawyer, walked out of the court room with 1 year Probation before Judgement (cant F up for 1 year then its free game lol) and $100 court cost... Hire a lawyer and take a drivers improvement class BEFORE court to show the judge you are taking responsibility for your actions and know you F'd up big. Thats what I did... Good luck bro :crinklehair:

Did they give you any points or make you pay 500 bucks after the lawyer?

Yeah bro, but you were only doing 89. I did almost 70MPH over the speed limit. I am hoping the judge is not gonna throw me in jain or try to suspend my license.

My ticket was a 124 on a 55. The only thing that is kind a saving me is that it was on an interstate.
