I was scrolling through Facebook, and stumbled upon someone who used to room next to me at WyoTech. We both had Jeep Cherokees and wheeled the chit outta them.
We happened to have both moved to the same city to work.

I see he has a nice shiny new Orange 2SS Camaro. It looks nice.

I see him parked at the local BK Lounge, and I stop in to say hey. We catch up on things and decided to cruise around a little afterward.

We are suddenly in Mexico, and side by side cruising at very low speeds.
I give him the wave, and wait for him to go, and I was to follow pursuit.
He launches hard, and without brake boosting I go WOT.

Without wheelspin (of course) I get sucked back into my seat, and I am quickly rowing by him, steadily and constantly pulling on him. I couldn't believe it!
My 2.0 with some bolt-ons pulling on a new SS?

Still in shock, we decide to go from 50mph, him hoping to lower my confidence.
Feeling like I am at a disadvantage, I brake boost this time. And again wait for him to go.
He gets on it, and I immediately release brake, and apply full right foot pressure.
I ONCE AGAIN pull on him. Not nearly as hard as the first time, but the cars keep adding up.

*****We meet up ONE week later, and he had traded his Mulletmobile for a 2008 Evolution X.

What? 2SS are around 3,800 with gas in the tank. My Evo weighs in at 3320. And they are also more than 350whp. If you look around you will see they are near 365-380 stock. He had the cats deleted also.

Thanks for the post though!

The results seem to show that you are right!

07SWB is right, and probably generous.. see you missed the key point "whp"

when you said 365-380 stock, meaning at the crank not to the wheels :rolleyez:

The new camaro SS is 3900 lbs and a driver puts them over 4,000

This is why even the new mustang kicks its ass stock to stock; it walks the damn thing (better weight & power).

The new maro dynos 348-365....

What happens when he puts a turbo on? Or cams/intake/exhaust and a tune? :ahhhhh: The JDM wars are over im afraid - these new V8s that are gonna start rolling out/have rolled out are no longer the inefficient pigs they used to be. They are using technology that makes the Japanese engines so great, and boost is readily available for them.

The jap market needs to go back to straight 6 turbos or V8s.

Nice run though man, i bet u got him pissed off pretty good!!!

Factory peak boost is 19 psi.

365-380 is the WHP of a 425hp LS3 Camaro

The 400hp L99 in the 1SS gets numbers more like those.

The local port of entry is curteous enough to leave the scales on. We have weighed both of our Evo's, and he weighed his camaro in at 3808, where mine measures 3320. His Evo X was a hefty 3550.

If the Jap market goes back to the high-hp I6's, it will loose what the imports are all about- handling.
Speed is just a side effect of owning an evo.

Thanks for posting!

Silly stangs, if all they wanted was straight line performance they could have saved over $20,000 dollars and got a sport bike.

New 5.0 in the 10's N/A not Built.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c62zJ-4Bo48

On a less aggressive tune and some nitrous (believe it was 100shot) they running low 10's.

Yay for an event that may require the steering wheel to be turned. :adore:

Evo's can run 10's on the stock turbo.
You can run 11's in a late 80's turbo Caravan
You can run down the strip and make it there in the 1-2 minute range.

So what.

Thanks!

I think some of the people on here have a hard-on for the Mulletmobiles and Mustangs. And that's ok! I won't tell anyone!

I did not make this thread to start a argument over Quarter mile times. Nor do I care what car goes how fast.

I was posting my experience on a friendly race with a Camaro.
That's all.

Thanks!

ACTUALLY the new Mustangs handle very well.

A new GT or GT500 mustang out handled and beat the track times of a Ford GT. Same driver, same track but different cars. it may not handle like an evo or Sti but it certainly does not handle like shit. Far from it

99% of the people out there do not drive a car to the edge of its handling ability (they think they do), but they do not.

Most roads are not banked properly, maintained well enough, or empty enough to try to do so.

This leaves.... straight line fun with mild cornering (on the street).

Dont throw in twisties when this thread is about a straight line race bro lol, it would take quite a lot for an evo not to be a hand grenade at that power level.

You wont flash a tune into the evo and run 10s, if you could you wont be doing it for too long...

Couldn't have said it better myself. Especially with the handling and roads. It's like buying a 1300cc bike. Most of that is power will never be used and cannot be used on public roads.

Your just shutting out the Mustang without taking any knowledge on it, sure that 5.0 I posted is setup for strait line but you should see this...

The new 5.0
What Was Good Is Now Even Better
Fitted with the 255/40ZR-19 Pirelli P Zero tires that are standard on the GT, the car pulled 0.94 g on the skidpad

The new Laguna Seca 5.0
Added up, the further improvements to Boss Laguna Seca result in the best-handling Mustang ever, with more than 1.03 g of lateral acceleration, stopping distances shortened by three feet from 60 mph over Boss, 0-60 acceleration improvements of one tenth of a second, and an overall expected lap time improvement of one to two seconds over the standard Boss on a typical road course.

That is directly off the showroom. :top:

Don't be surprised when someone pulls on your Evo in a Stock Mustang, not just in a strait line either. :eviltongue:

...

You're right, this thread was about a Camaro, and now there is a mid-life crisis Ford sports car on every page.

It's pretty funny. I could probably post a Insight vs. Prius race, and some fanboy would come in and say the 5.0 would beat both of them! lmao!

Have a great day!

You said a mouth full there! ftw

Yes this thread was about a Camaro America car... my bad it's made in Canada so how is it a American car?

As you stated above "Ford sports car on every page" and I thought this was a Toyota forum! :hmmmm2:

Maybe that's why the post count is down on the XRU because I don't come on this forum to here about stupid Failstangs and Can't-go-maro all the time! IMO :eviltongue::eviltongue:
