Hey guys,
Do I need to add any of the Limited Slip Friction Modifier to Redline 75W90 in my 07? If I do, how much do I need?

"Contains additional friction modifiers for suitablity with clutch-type limited slip differentials - for most LSDs, no additional friction modifiers are required" - off the Redline 75W90 webpage

I just want to make sure I have everything I need when I go to make the swap. :top:

I'll also be doing good old MT-90 for the tranny at the same time.

If I recall people have replaced theirs without adding, without any problems. I still have only the bottles 75W90 but still haven't replaced it.

With MT-90 in the tranny you can't go wrong :top:

I just don't want to have to get back under there to add that stuff after the fact. Hopefully someone who has actually done this can chime in. Thanks for your input. :top:

As for the MT-90 I can't wait to get it back in there. The dealer changed the fluid out when they did my clutch, man how I hate the stock fluid, it's garbage.

I used the same Redline and having problems with groans. I tried adding 4 ounces of modifier but still groaning although there was a slight improvement.

Okay, now that sucks.

I think this was discussed on customtacos a while back. I'll see if I can find the thread.

http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=41&pcid=4

"Add 1oz at a time to clutch-type limited slip or posi-traction units to eliminate chatter". I think some experimenting is required with this if you get chatter..... It's strange though cause I thought the viscosity of our oem dif oil is the same as 75w90.....

The gear oil already contains the additive, there is a thread around here where my dumb ass put the mt90 in the diff, I asked the same question when I switched it out to the proper gear oil and Gadget confirmed that there is no additive needed in the redline oil as it's already there! Get a nose plug when you change it, gear oil is right up there with my 'favorite' smells lol

So you haven't had the same issue as Poki???

We're both talking about Redline 75W90 correct? They used to have a 75W90NS, which from what I can gather did not contain any additive.

I used the 75w90ns and added 4 ounces of modifier. It still groaned so I added another 4 ounces. Maybe too much now since it still groans but better than with only 4 ounces of modifier.

ah haa, I knew it. Ya that NS stuff didn't have the additive in it. That makes sense :top:

I ran the 75w90 all th way until I popped my motor. I didn't use any additive and had it in there for probably 60000 km. No problems at all!!

Matt take a pic of your diff fluid when you drain it. I just drained mine last week and it was NASTY it looked like burnt oil and it had metal flakes in it (<20kmiles):ahhhhh:

I didnt use the redline, and since 09 is open diff I didnt add and friction modifiers either

I just did this also and had no problems MT-90 in the tranny and the 75w90 in the differential. There should be a sticker on the diff that says limited slip ...white sticker with red print, right above the fill port but from what I understand even if it doesnt need the LS additive it won't harm any differentials...that's right from the guy at redline I ordered through. The 75w90 has the additive already in there. A gallon of 75w90 and 2 quarts of the MT-90 shipped from redline is 95 bux and change
