So the qa1s are a replacement for your stock shocks in the rear?

Yes, and it all depends on preference, load in the bed etc.

Does the 3/3 DJM need to be notched? And are these the nest shocks to have?

you can run the DJM 3/3 without a notch to answer your question. It is recommended that you should run the notch with it though.

so far the QA1's are the shocks that get the job done.

The reason you notch the frame is gain more clearance , so you don't bottom out so bad. With the sittin sic monos leafs, there is only like 2.5'' of space in between the axle and bump stops. The more you lower the truck, the closer the axle gets to the bump stops. Be careful with that notch with the djm kit, the bump stops that come with that kit are often too short and your tires will hit the fender flares because of too much travel. It is better to bottom out than have your tires be chewed up by the fender flares. Some members have notched the flares for extra clearance.

I know its recommended to run notch w djm 3/3 but is bottoming out going to be issue w djm 3/3 no notch + qa1?

even with the QA1s you still will bottom out. At the same time You'd have to set them really stiff to try to avoid bottoming out. It's really up to the driver. If he doesn't mine the stiff ride then go for it.
