That makes two of us. Can't believe anyone is rejoicing about have a Subie engine insteat of a nice Toyota 2.0L DOHC I4. Since it's a Scion, that means it will be made "on the cheap."

I don't think it is a bad idea at all. Plus look at all of the aftermarket support for that motor. That car will be a mod machine.

Turbo kits. Built motors. I can see from 400 to 600 hp on that sucker, easier than these motors, as far as support is concerned.

To bad it wasn't the EVO X motor though.......

So were the Corollas...which this is a "remake" of the best of the lot.

I'll probably still buy one, even if it has a Subie engine...but I'll wait a couple years to see if they make a turbo version.

Originally celicas were all RWD!

My very first car was an 83 Celica GT hatchback with a 5 spd and the infamous 22RE 4 cylinder. That car drove great and I was able to beat it to death and it still wanted more. Lots of great memories of that car, just wish I had some pictures of it

It was shown on Motor Week this Sunday & was announced that it will be in dealers for 2012. No word on a Turbo & for sure will be Under Scion.

I thought it was great they chose a Subaru engine rather than a Mitsu. Subaru engine is top notch, Mitsus are just tech smart.

I think they come in under 25k.
