I recently aqcuired about 4 square feet of the 3M carbon fiber DI-NOC vinyl. Out of all the CF look-alikes out there, i would have to say this one is the best. Not just for the look but also for its texture, the vinyl is actually three dimensional so it comes out lookin just as solid. After running out of the suggested 3M 94 primer, a little elmers stick glue and my girlfriend's hairdryer seemed to do the trick, somewhat. Here are some before and after pictures.

Negative. I've been browsing for the past couple months on the best carbon fiber-looking material to use, but, this is the first time I've tried anything like this. The 3M DI-NOC works wonders though. I used a hairdryer but once the vinyl is heated enough, it becomes so pliable and flexible that you can practically bend it and stretch it around noks and crannies, which eliminates cutting corner slits.

To be honest, i've seen alot of parts on xrunners online that show potential...like CF eyelids, keyless entry remotes, that panel where the window up/down switches are on the doors, and the cup holder is prolly the more common one.

The DI-NOC vinyl comes in red and white also so i'm sure someone is bound to wrap their x-brace in it one day. ;)

to be honest, most of the sites i came across on the internet sell it for about...6.50 to about 8 bucks for a square foot. I got 4 square feet for $18.47 plus $1.99 shipping off ebay.

and the 3 notches took the most heating neccessary out of all the corners and nooks and crannies. after about...half a minute of the hairdryer over it, i pushed it in repeatedyl with the thinner end of a chopstick. (We make do in Hawai'i) haha.

you should do a write up on this... just saying, you'd be the first to do it

the Di-Noc stuff is actually one of the harder ones to work with from 3M.

I am using the series 1080 i believe thats what its called on some parts inside the Titan. The stuff has a sticky backing to it and gets very pliable when you apply some heat to it. I am thinking about wrapping the mirrors in it as well as making some eyelids out of it. We will see.

This is my next project but I wasn't sure which vinyl to work with. I'm gonna try to accent the door panels, center console, etc. Have you wrapped anything else?

I'm doin' a matte black racing stripe on BSP. When are you wrapping your X??

sorry, did some shuffling in my photobucket so the direct link must've gotten lost. I recently did the panels for the window up/down buttons. The driver side was a b*tch. with all those curves and stuff.

I've been thinking about something like this. How long do you think that it will last before it peals up? I mean... will it stay on pretty well, or do you think it will be like painted cup holder, after one little touch it looks like crap and then has to be re-done often?

to lil red, since that day i applied it all it still looks just as good. and i didnt even use the proper heating instrument or adhesive so...im assuming if you got the right stuff and you follow instructions it should come out pretty cherry.
