I just got back from the first road test of the new prototype supercharger system for the new version of the 1GR-FE engine.

Got about 50 miles on it. Next weekend it is heading to the FJ Summit in Oray Colorado.

As far as I know URD is the first to boost this new engine.

I don't believe its been confirmed what engine will be in the 2012s.
I think its kind of confusing the new version is stilled called the 1gr-fe.

I think they kept the name because they kept the main block the same. And there was quite the buzz about this on TW, the 2012's wont have this new engine, they will stick with the current model

No the 1st gen 1grfe doesnt have dual vvti. We have vvti on the intake side. The 2nd gen 1grfe has vvti on both intake AND exhaust side.

How did u get this info? If it's true that the 2012 XRunner or Tacomas won't get te new 1GR-FE with dual VVT-i I wonder what there excuse is for not using it? That's just plain R-E-T-A-R-D-E-D if it's true, I just don't get why we get phucked like that! I mean Toyota wants to advertise the XRunner as a sport truck then why not put the newer engine in it with more HP? The 236hp and 260whatever TQ that it has now is WEAKSAUCE!!

Nah I won't loose faith, I'm hoping Toyota does the right thing just like everyone else.

I'm also interested to hear what G's using to tune his new system for the dual VVT-i engine on the 4Runner and FJ Cruiser.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you its retarded. I'll try to find the source again.

Here's the source, take it for what its worth, a guy who says he knows people in toyota corporate that went to the dealer show in vegas.

For that matter, 4 Runners and FJs have different cam sensors than the Tacomas. Isn't that strange?
