Not sure there's a write up on them, have u searched the How-To thread yet? If u did and did t see it then obviously there is no write up. I believe there are some members with a retro kit that's not an LS kit but not sure where they got them. Maybe do a Google search on retro fir kits and I'm sure u will find some

You can buy full Retro Kit's from Retrofitsource. The kits I believe have instructions. A lot easier that what a few of us went through.

I found the exact same kit that i bought from LS on eBay for half of what I paid for it. I haven't seen a write up but if you can do the BHLM then you can install a retrofit kit.

Or you can get a kit from theretrofitsource.com

Pretty much you just do the BHLM without the painting part lol

Pretty much reading the how to is to let you know how to take the lights apart.

The morimoto kit will be the easiest to install since is uses the existing hole where the bulb goes through to mount the projector threaded shaft in. You open the headlights, take out the bulb shield in the center and install the projector housing.

Or the FX-R kit which requires permanent modding to the reflector bowl for the install.

If you do a retrofit remember before you seal the lights back up that you need to adjust the rotational alignment. Just install the lights back on your truck and have it facing a wall and make sure the cut off line is parallel to the ground. If not you won't have the light output where it is needed on the ground and you may blind oncoming traffic. After you have it adjusted then seal the lights back up, install and adjust the vertical and horizontal adjustments.

You can get a spare set of headlights from www.rockauto.com if you want and whichever projectors you want. You can prolly see if any members in your area can help with this...hell if you want you can send the lights and projector kit to me and I'll do it for ya and black them out. If you do decide to black them out it's a good idea to have a spare set of headlights just incase a bulb blows then you can swap to the regular headlights til the replacement arrives.

THIS. I bought mine from the forum LS vendor and paid extra to have them installed and ready to go when they got to me. This step (and a bunch of other steps:argh:) was skipped and my light output is all ****ed up. I can't wait to get rid of these garbage projectors, I actually miss my old OEM headlights. lesigh

Avoid the ones that were being sold on here with the colored halo ring. Maybe it's just me, but I've had nothing but problems with them. Trashy parts that I paid top dollar for. =(

That's too bad bro. It's actually not a bad kit if installed correctly. I had my issues at the beginning, but once they were aligned properly, they're night and day better than OEM. I've had mine for 2-3 years now, had to replace the first parts just the other day. I put the relays in a bad location during installation and they saw to much water. They finally corroded. Replaced the harness and relays, back to awesomeness. :blurock:

We'll have to get together some time so you can fix me. :p Currently, one bright is out, one fog light is out, one halo is out and they're all misaligned.

Oddly enough, it's the right headlight halo, the left headlight highbeam and the right foglight. So if I turn everything on, it looks really retarded. I've tried everything to get them fixed that's within my electrical knowledge (little to none). Hate them!

I can turn wrenches, but I can not splice wires. :p

I agree. I had no problems with my kit til a lock ring broke which was my fault but I couldn't get in touch with Jason to get replacements. For the high beams on the gen 2 kit there is a metal piece that moves up and down to give high and low beams. Maybe that piece is the problem. The biggest thing that annoyed me was the price I paid but the kit was awesome and I got tons of compliments on it.
