A lot of work went into fitting the old school Hurst pistol grip shifter. The shifter was designed for a 70's dodge b-body.

It is a fun shifter.

The deck is friction fit and will not move until released from the bottom. Nice thing about it is there is no interior modification. Pop the deck out and put the cup holder back in and it is back to stock.

As an ole Mopar dude... I give it two thumbs up! :top::top: Might have to look into this mod. I like the CF grip vice going completly old school with the wood grain grip. :blurock:

Nice! I think I'm too short to use that shifter.
I'd have to sit way back for it to fit my reach comfortably... but then my feet would't be able to reach the pedals!

Here is a few notes on this mod.

I used the URD short shift kit. URD states that they use the stock shifter because of the shifter noise. I separted the handle from the shifter shaft. I used a steel collar to weld a stub that I used to bolt on the handle on it. The collar is clamped on the stock shifter shaft. The first time I tested it, there was shifter noise. I unbolted the handle and used teflon tape on the bolts and used fiber reinforced rubber washers. That cut the shifter noise way down.

The performance is the same as any x-runner with the TRD quickshifter or URD shortshifter.

That includes a little harder getting it into reverse.

The shifter is positioned about 2" +/- back from the stock pattern. That seems to work for me and I am average height and build.
