Is it totaled?

Long story short, it's actually a dangerous intersection. There are two lanes of opposing traffic. The left lane can make a left turn on both sides. The problem is that the traffic signal is not viewable at the point where my left needs to be made, so the truck with trailer stopped in the left lane, I couldn't see the right lane and assumed the light turned red. I was wrong. The cop said it was my fault but did not issue me a summons because he agreed the traffic light is not visible from where the turn needs to be made.

Insurance adjuster coming Tuesday at 8AM. The cab is definitely damaged and both doors, bed are shot. Is this the last straw for my taco? 4th time she's been hit. I actually want it to be totaled. It's been abused like a red headed step child.

Nope, doubt that is totaled, but I know what you mean when you say you hope it is.

Something like that just sucks the value out of it and makes it hard to sell.

Well I'm gonna push for it as best as I can. I mean, they can't really repair the cab like that right? That shit is pushed in good

I do not know about other state laws, but in California, adjuster will quote the damage and owner gets to chose which body shop they want to use. Body shop will tear down the vehicle and call the adjuster back out again to show more damage underneath the outside damage and will need more compensation for repairs. Insurance issues it. Body shop continues to tear down the car more and will call adjuster out again to .. show more damage, around this time.. they might agree on trying to total it out.
Repair costs > vehicle value.
To me.. looks boarder line. It could go either way. Abused or not. The previous damage was repaired already.
Good Luck to you!

I figured a quick estimate and I think it has and easy 8500.00 damage, assuming no rear end or wheel or tire damage. I would act like I was going to fix it and get a check. then advertise it for sale damaged and sell it and keep the insurance money. If you cant find someone to buy it quick put it in a shop and let them tear it down for a good inspection and then get it totaled.

7k in damage? lol my civic got hit in the front left quarter panel and i needed a new front bumper headlight and fender, all that being said and done after it got painted and put back to new. 4500$. Id assume the bed needs replaceing and painting to match, along with the 2 doors and possible the bed. Id say more around 12k in damage or more.

It depends on how bad the damage is below what we can see. The bed and doors can be replaced easily. The frame of the cab will be the deciding factor IMO.

Yeah, I was going to ask about the frame at the front of the bed. How does it look?

It doesn't appear he hit the frame under the bed, but he was damn close. I want to go get an estimate from a local shop before the adjuster comes and see what kind of game they're gonna play with me. I know insurance companies love to lowball on this kinda stuff.

Initial estimate is $7,201. When it is brought in for repairs, they will tear it down and see what else is bad. They said they cab is repairable.

Do you get to choose your own repair shop?
