Was wondering if anyone has seen the bolt hole at the bottom of the knuckle stripped out? It's one of the bolts that connect the lower control arm to the knuckle. I looked today and the bolt is just chillin in there...seems like it could just fall out at anytime! Hoping Toyota will cover under warranty when I try to talk to them on Monday.

If it is under warranty, call them and tell them to send a Tow Truck for your truck. Don't drive it.

I went into a Toyota dealership on Saturday and they said that warranty would not cover and bolts or stripping...I don't understand how they can't cover it? I haven't had anything done down there so it must have been defective to begin with. Plus i don't know how long I've been driving with it like this either...you don't think that the other bolt will be able to hold it together till it gets to a dealer at least?

Yea I will just wait till Monday and get it towed...I just would hate to tow it all the way and they say it's not covered so I have to tow it all the way back home to fix it myself

I guess if they won't fix it, I will tap out the stripped hole and use a helicoil...

If you are under the 3/36 bump to bumper they have to cover it.

With only one of the two bolts carrying the load that other one can shear off at any minute and you will crash.

I was driving an ambulance that dropped a lower ball joint at high speed and it was not pretty. Somehow I kept it from rolling over and killing the crew in the back working a code on the patient.

Don't take chances with this.

My factory warranty just ran out in June I think, but I did get the 7 year, 100000 mile extended when I bought the truck.

Thing is I remember taking it in like 2 years ago for the same bolt and the mechanic said he just had to tighten it...bad thing is they never wrote up a ticket or anything so there is probably no proof I took it in before the factory warranty was up. I'm hoping the expensive ass extended warranty comes thru...

Make sure you can get in touch with the extended warranty let them know and explain how much its going to cost for the part and repair...but they will need it in writing for proof..it also depends on the company if you may have to pay for it and then you send in the paper work to them, so they will pay you!

Well it's the Toyota extended warranty so the dealer would be doing it, I just know that they are gonna try and get out of it somehow because it's almost a 700 dollar job

The warranty decided to cover the issue...only if they told me before hand so I could have or a tow truck to take it in instead of having to do it myself
