I have never heard that, but now that you mention it your right there are very few hatch backs in the US. I don't like them. You can hide bodies in the trunk but a hatch back you can see right in there.

Someone's been watching Top Gear... lol

Oh Dr. Death........owner of the intrawebz, what would we do without you? :dontknow:

If you wanna talk 2dr vs 4dr/5dr then I see a reason for your opinion, but when you compare a 4/dr "hatchback" it's really all the same except for the class the MFR has put the car in. Even Wikipedia shows the similarities.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatchback

It's on the Internet so it must be true

I really like the hyundai veloster turbo, but fwd to me is a downfall. Honestly if I were to get a daily driver (due to a job change) the veloster would probably be it.

i would Never buy Hyundai vehicles. straight up suck and their unsafe. bred benson can kiss my asz too lol

I actually got a 2010 Elantra for my (ex)wife, honestly that's a good little car. Gets fantastic gas mileage, looks decent, cheap price and great warranty.

I know that Kia and Hyundai have a bad rep, and they should for the POS cars they put on the road 10+ years ago. Honestly now they are some of the best bang for your buck cars out there, and to top that off the warranty and gas mileage are great.

As far as unsafe I believe the majority of their cars earned a 4+ safety rating all the way around, correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe so.

In my eyes a hatchback is a 2 door car with a rear hatch

A wagon is not a hatch. U don't ever hear anyone calling a wagon a hatch or a hatch a wagon it's either one or the other

Agreed - a hatchback is a two-door with a full-lift rear door, and a wagon is a 4-door with the same idea.

Somewhere along the line we inherited 3-door and 5-door terminology.

I suppose its fair to comment on wagons - same pragmatic interior-space approach.

I've had the 2002 Lexus IS300 Sportcross and loved it... just got bored with the auto tranny.
Hatch? Wagon? Never quite figured it out...

I like the is300 sportcross and am looking for a blue one, and when I find the one for me I will convert it to a manual trans. As for the hatch or wagon thing a four door is a wagon, IMO.

Why not consider an SUV a hatchback then? If a wagon is considered one then a SUV has to be also

so all pick ups with campers are hatcbacks? lol h1 hatchback? lol

No. That is not part of the vehicle. I'm talking OEM only. And 1 door not 2. Also access to the interior cab. But I get your point.

Aren't they? Anything with a rear door that lifts up is a hatchback. IMHO.

SUVs have 'lift-gates'. Not hatchbacks.

240SX also not a hatchback IMO - it's a fastback. It's a bodyline thing - hatchbacks are very distinctively vertical (or near vertical) whereas cars such as the 240SX, 350Z, Mustang, Scion TC, etc. are all fastback bodyline with practical rear cargo access.

Classic hatchbacks would be the Civic, Golf, Focus, Impreza.
