...what vehicle would you choose?

I've just got into The Walking Dead series (yes - I'm behind the times) and the main characters have just run out of gas for the umpteenth-million time (seriously people, cars abandoned everywhere and you still don't know how to get gas from them?!?). It has me wondering, seeing them drive old, unreliable, gas guzzling vehicles.

Personally, I'd go for a Subaru Forester with the rear windows welded shut (big welders have their own gas-powered generators, so no issue about a lack of power-grid). It gets good fuel economy, has plenty of internal and roof-top storage capacity, you can sleep in it (I refuse to tent it with the undead wondering around), it has a great AWD system, plenty of ground clearance, they're reliable, and easy -enough- to work on. What more could you ask for during the end of days?

Silent hot air balloon to a remote mountain lakeside cabin.

Get a couple of Zero motorcycles to make city scavenger runs (hardware and ammo).

BTW: Zero bikes are electric: HERE
Just need flowing water to rig a generator to keep it charged.
Hopefully the cabin has electricity already!

Live off the land/water and no zombies around (at least not that many).

Armored truck. Lots of guns. And a stable place that people can't get in easy. Like a high security data center.

A docked cruise ship with a fleet of hovercrafts to restock supplies. Aint no walkers or unwanted guests getting on that bitch.

I would use my 01 F250. Its got ranch hand bumpers front and rear, lockers, 4x4, 60 gal fuel tank, cb radio, newly acquired ramsey winch for work. Oh and it has 600+ rwhp. I would love to put the snorkel I got for it but I can bring myself to cut it up. I think it would be a great all purpose truck.

i'd have to say a 1983 supercharged dodge ramcharger. 4x4 of course, detroit lockers, 33" tires, 4" lift. plenty of room for sleep, shooting, etc... windows replaced with bulletproof glass (for survivors gone bad, or in case zombies gain the intelligence to operate a weapons system lol) perfect zombie killing machine! :top:

Oh Snapps. Impressive. Very impressive. Only issue would be finding the hover-crafts. Oh, and clearing out a cruse ship full of zombies. That would take FOREVER.

Dirtbike or 4x4 quad, a lot easier to get around with when the roads are cluttered with vehicles. Plan to go the rest of the way on foot so its best to keep a multipurpose lightweight backpacker's mentality - learn to hike, UL backpack, stealth camp, & hunt; learn to love it.

two batteries in your vehicle, a set of jumper cables, and some rod - there is your off grid DC negative electrode stick welder.

A car or on road truck is useless when the roads are impassible & the terrain becomes very tight and difficult.

People think they are going to get out of Dodge when something happens are kidding themselves.

Just look at rush hour traffic. What do you think it will be like when EVERYONE is on the road.

They only way you are going to get out is to leave now, long before something happens.

So, the only real option is to live way out or be ready to bunker in and stand and fight.
