Seems from doing my research, we should leave it up to the dealer to install.

Can anyone recommend an installer in CA? I'm in the SF area, but will travel to LA if it's more reasonably priced there, and i'll break-in on the drive back :)

How many miles on your truck?

Why would you want the dealer to install something that simple?

I have 85K on my truck. Not sure - I thought that the dealer was needed for remap purposes?

Hell if any indy shop can do it, i'm all ears. Will be getting ready to order the TRD kit soon.

The only reason most people have toyota install the trd blower is to keep the warranty. I assume you are out of warranty at 85,000 miles... Regardless who installs, toyota is the only place to reflash; however, many people have driven gingerly to the dealership for that. Or you could ucon or aem the ecu and keep toyota out completely

URD can reflash your ECU with the TRD Calibration file and so can any shop with the Techstream scan tool or a high end SnapOn one.

However; once you flash it in there it stays forever. Cannot reflash back to stock.

If you go UCON you will have a better tune and can go back to stock any time.

STOP and really think about what u are doing. as a TRD S/C owner i must recommend that you look into getting a URD kit instead. They are just as reliable and have more potential. I chose TRD because URD does not have a kit available for the 09+ trucks yet. You are going to be disappointed with the stock TRD kit and eventually dump money into it to get it to perform close to the stage 1 URD. oh yea and toyota dealership mechanics are usually the last people u want working on your truck for anything aftermarket related. Take it from someone whos truck has been in and out of the dealership due to the mechanics improperly installing a traction bar. my differential is leaking now. They dont even know how to follow instructions with color pictures. im still driving a corolla s loaner they gave me. its been about a week consecutively. Screw warranty and do things yourself or find a mechanic locally who specializes in toyotas.

I've thought about the URD trust me.

TRD kit is the only one that is smog legal in CA.

The dealer did a good job on mine. Also I get a 5 year warranty on the S/C because the dealer installed it. 1 year if somebody else does it.

ps watch out for those Toyota mechs, (well from my experience) I left my truck in their garage for over 2 weeks, they messed up the reflash and dented my roof. bastards
