I'm trying to decide how low to drop the back of my X. I'd prefer not to notch the frame. I've done a lot of research here and found that many of you have issues with frequent bottoming out on 2.5" or larger blocks with no notch, even with smaller bumpstops and QA1s. I've also read that you can remove the ENTIRE bumpstop bracket and put the stops directly on the un-notched frame. Here's the question I could not find a definative anser to: Do any of you have 3" blocks with no notch, WITH THE ENTIRE BUMPSTOP BRACKET REMOVED and smaller stops mounted directly on the frame with QA1s (or similar stiffer shocks)? Any feedback on bottoming out?

With any good sized pothole, you'll bottom out even with 2" blocks. With this truck, if you're afraid of bottoming out, it's best to get the notch.

I tried 3" blocks in the rear for a while. I removed the bump stops and cut off the brackets but to be honest it drove like crap. Got nasty wheel hop and bottomed out quite easily with a few hundred pounds of tools in the back. Drives much better with the 2" blocks and dosn't bottom out at all anymore

Remove the brackets even if you do 2in blocks... your back will thank you..

You only have about 1/2in space between the axle and the top if the stock bump stop with the 2in blocks..

Cool - thanks for the input guys. I guess I'll be either running 2" blocks and removed brackets, or I'm going to be notching it to go lower...

There's been a few times I bottomed out on stock ride height, our roads are crap but it only takes a few mean bumps!

Remove the bums top bracket , get qa1 shocks and see if you like theride. You can always notch the frame.

I had that setup and it wasn't that bad. I did bottom out on extreme bumps going highway speeds but I got use to it. It started to get worse once the qa1's started to leak.
