Hey guys, I've never actually posted anything but I recently did a low buck mod on my XRunner I thought may interest you. I apologize if this is old news. I had been looking at a lot of intercooler ice boxes and the Kincaid killer chiller kit and on some other forums I had seen guys talking about routing the water from the I/C through the heater core. It took me about an hour to reroute the lines and the difference in water temps post supercharger (reading at the reservoir and heat exchanger are huge!! Seat of the pants feel indicates a little more oomph (but it always does after a new mod), but I do believe for being nearly free this mod has merit even if it's used solely to eliminate heat soak.

It is a pick up truck.

Put an ice tank in the bed.

That would add more weight and complexity. Plus there's no refilling any ice. Just turn on the a/c and you're good to go. I was considering a bed mounted tank prior to this though.

The AC running will cause waaay more of a performance loss than the weight of a small ice tank in the bed.

The AC can be used to dramatically reduce temps within the system and then be shut off. It also isn't engaged at wot. There really isn't a downside to it unless you find yourself in a freak blizzard.

So does it basically mean that you don't have heat while its routed like this?

Nope no heat, that is a downside for some I'm sure but it is easily reversible. You are essentially using the heater core as a secondary heat exchanger but because of the AC that is crossing it the water drops a good deal below ambient.

It's working great on mine so far. The water (distilled+water wetter) temp is a good 30 degrees cooler than before. Not sure what if any gains that equates too as I'm already using a water+methanol injection kit too. But maybe it will help with the added heat of the smaller pulley.

After a spirited drive I'm still 30 degrees below ambient temp. This is after its pass thru the supercharger.

Who needs a heater in the summer time anyway? ;)

Put some y's with shutoff valves in them and then you could move the valves to have it work in either way.

I remember when ford did this with the lightening's ..

http://autoweek.com/article/car-new...rcooler-uses-cold-air-heat-engine-performance

like Mark said put a y in there and just flip it on and off when you need the heat..

you might also consider adding a water larger tank and something insulated (like a 30oz yeti.. lol).. that way the water has a place to stay cool and more water stays cooler for longer...
