Howdy gang,
Ok, I've searched the threads till my head hurts. Are there any how-to's on replacing the clutch master? Doesn't look to tough but I don't want to miss anything. Any info or threads will be welcome. My floor is soaked and I can't live with it any longer.
Love this truck.
Thanks,
kendall

I can't recall anyone ever doing a write-up for this.

Its a pretty straight forward repair. It helps if you have a pressure bleeder and adaptor that fits the master cylinder reservoir.

I use the Motive pressure bleed system. I think Toyotas require one of their "universal" adapters. Haven't bled the brakes this year, but I think I used their round universal fitting.

Thanks guys. I have a Motive with universal adapter. Going to dig into her tomorrow AM. I've started by taking a couple of pics. Am I seeing this correctly? Did the PO or dealership that I bought her from put something on it to reduce the squeak? I have to use the X tonight so I'm not going to pull it off. Damn...

***Disclaimer. I am no good under a dash or inside a door frame.***
Well I totally screwed that up. Everything went ok until I reinstalled the clutch line back into the master cylinder. I cross threaded it. It felt snug going back in but I disregarded my gut feeling and forced it on. Bled the system and took her around the block. Felt great at first. I knew I was in trouble when I lost all pedal and the tell all was the brake fluid gushing on my left shoe. Limped her home in 2nd gear.
But now it's even better... the line won't come back off of the master. Tried needle nose vice grips but no go. I had to cut it off. I have now removed the pedal and clutch sub-assembly to be able to remove the inside firewall end of the line. Next was a call to my local dealer for an eight ball.... WAIT, I mean local dealer for part numbers. New line and another new clutch master will be here Tuesday.
I believe I should have:
1) Removed the pedal.
2) Removed the clutch sub assembly.
3) Swapped out the master.
4) reinstall in reverse order.
That would have made the hard line and the hose easier to remove and reassemble.

Lesson learned the hard way.
Here's a few pics of the carnage and a diagram of the clutch assembly.
*Note* After washing the floor mats, I believe I have a tan and a grey combo. Very custom.

Well I got her back together today. Reassembled as pictured then installed onto the firewall. Holy crap that pedal was tough to get lined back up. Bled the system and we're off and running.
Question: is there a spring that goes from the pedal to the bracket?

Any idea on size , strength or part number? Everything I've searched out just shows a return spring. This looks like an "assist" spring??? The diagram shows nothing. Pedal seems to be soft enough with out it. I think this is it.

Can't remember a part number for it but it looks different from that. It's a pain in the butt to put on and off as I recall.

I did mine with the pedal bracket installed in the truck. It wasn't too bad to replace if you bench bled the new master.
