SignUp Now!There is a rear disc conversion by sosperformance. Because it uses IS350 parking brake shoes, it's the same as ISF. Which means bigger rotor, bigger caliper, and best set up with a hydraulic hand brake. I would like to ultimately have Tacoma 4 piston calipers all the way around on my XR. Stopping will be no problem. The setup I have on my 240sx is 4 piston calipers all around and I've cut the braking distance I half. I just have to be careful not to hit the brakes to hard or I'll lock up the rear. I want to make my XR the same way. Even thought about removing the ABS.flipboikev, any plans to work on a rear disc conversion kit?
The brackets right now uses the Tacoma 4 piston caliper. It's probably not much weight difference between the two. As for using a Lexus caliper, yes lighter but the cost of calipers is twice as much than Tacoma or Tundra. Did a quick search for ISF calipers, nothing really available, IS350 calipers easy to get but again, cost twice as much plus smaller brake pad surface. The availability of Tundra/Tacoma calipers is better and cheaper than Lexus. It's hard to come across a Lexus in the junk yard.I like the idea but don't care for the weight of the tundra caliper maybe something different????
Did some more research. Looked into the Lexus LS400/600H calipers. Found easily on eBay, they are aluminum, cost more... Brake pads surface more than Tacoma but a little less than Tundra. Might be a tight fit with ISF 360mm front rotor but should easily fit with ISF 345mm rear rotor. HMMM... I might just buy a pair of calipers myself. Can I do crowdfunding on XRU for R&D purposes?
Do your kits work with stock X-Runner wheels, or are larger wheels required?
Or you guys can go the tundra caliper routeSOS / Tundra Racing has Stop Tech BBK's on sale for %20 off.
Alloy mounts, calipers and 2 piece rotors. Now I'm just waiting for one of my old bicycle frames to sale on fleBay.
