2012 X-Runner with stock non JBL head unit and OEM backup camera. Installing a Pioneer AVH-X4800BS so I can get the backup camera image on the head unit.

1. After searching several forums, I've concluded that the source for tapping into the backup camera trigger wire varies from year to year in both color and location. Can anyone with a 2012 tell me (for sure) where I can tap into this trigger wire and what color it is?

2. Also, every thread I've seen on this same mod shows hooking up the camera signal +, signal -, and backup trigger, but the stock camera connector is a 4 pin, and also has a "shielded body ground" as a fourth connection. Can this just be ignored?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't messed with my backup camera, but I think I saw a thread on Tacoma World back when I looked into it. If it we're me, I'd just start tearing stuff apart and try tracing wires with a probe and multimeter

The shielding is used to prevent interference in the factory signal wires that would cause image distortion. There's a lot of power wire running through the car. Most inexpensive RCA wires don't have any shielding. You could try ignoring it and see how the picture turns out.

All those RadioShack references makes it seem like ages ago, not 2 years lol... R.I.P. Radio Shack

Yeah, I really miss them too. Used to b e so convenient to just pop in and find what you want. All that's left down here by me is Fry's, and they're a pain in the a** to deal with, and not that close either.
