Long or short headers?

I have an 05’ x runner stock other than an AFE carb legal cat back exhaust system. I want to put headers on it so my questions are:
1. Which ones are better? Long or short tube?
2. Are there any CARB legal ones?
3. Is there a mod I should do before headers, other than magnuson super charger?

Any and all helps us appreciated, thank!

If you want to keep it CARB legal, you would have to get shorties and keep all 4 cats in your system.

Sounds like you live in CA because of the emphasis on being CARB legal. That basically narrows it down to short tube headers. Any long tube header will eliminate the primary catalytic converters so it will fail smog. Reinstalling your stock headers every 2 years for a smog check is very costly and time consuming.

Consider getting a URD y-pipe instead of headers. It removes the secondary cats which will also make you fail smog checks.....but at least reinstalling the stock y-pipe only takes 30-60 minutes.

Pretty sound advice right there...

Alright, I’ll look into the URD y-pipe, thanks all! Does anybody have it installed? Do you recommend it?

People wouldn't be recommending it here if it wasn't great. It's been a proven product for more than a decade.
