Which MODs will Increase Gas mileage?

The number one thing is to short shift and keep you foot out of it. Sure takes all the fun out of it though.

    braks starting to squeak.

This will usually cure the squeak. You usually need to get them properly bedded in to deposit pad material on the rotor. Eight to ten 60 - 5 mph stops will usually do the trick. You want to be able to start smelling the pads and feeling fade. Then drive at normal speeds until they are cool. Do...

For Sale, 4Corner Disk Brakes & CalTracs

Once installed, the bars and springs become a set. I can't remove them without a donor set of springs to replace them.

For Sale, 4Corner Disk Brakes & CalTracs

The brakes are super. Absolutely no fade after 30 minutes of hot laps at Buttonwillow raceway. The stock brakes would have given up after 1 or two laps. Pedal feel is great, very firm. Stopping distance is not much changed for the initial stop as that is pretty much a function of the tires...

For Sale, 4Corner Disk Brakes & CalTracs

You may have read elsewhere in other threads, but I totaled my XRunner a while back. UPDATE on what parts are available! The insurance company is writing it off as a total loss. They will be selling it with a salvage title, but I feel sorry for the poor guy who eventually ends up with it. The...

    Ouch!

I have to leave the truck with all of it's stick parts. Because the CalTracs use modified lower shock/spring clamps and I don;t have the original parts, I can't take them off without have a set of stock parts to replace them with. All of this needs to be complete by next Thursday so I need to...

    Ouch!

UPDATE on what parts are available! The insurance company is writing it off as a total loss. They will be selling it with a salvage title, but I feel sorry for the poor guy who eventually ends up with it. The frame is bent in a major way. The entire front end needs to be replaced. All though...

    Ouch!

My insurance company called today and they are going to total it. Looks like I'll have a fight on my hands to recover all the extras I've added. TRD supercharger with smaller pulley - 326 RWHP Snow water/Methanol Injection system Custon one off 355 disks with four piston front and two piston...

    Ouch!

Had a major fender bender this morning on the way to the office. I'm here to tell you that air bags do indeed work. Other than a stiff and sore neck, I'm okay. Can't say the same for my truck. I'm afraid it will never be the same.

    Latest Dyno Results

No, for that test, they were blowing cool air onto the open Air Box with the hood open. If you were driving, it would be pulling hot air from under the closed hood. I believe what it says is that the inlet from the fender area into the Air Box has some restriction. Now maybe if you opened this...

    Latest Dyno Results

Here are the remaining dyno sheets. It is interesting to see how sensitive the power lever is to outside temperatures. Also, how too much water/methanol will also kill the power output. I'm heading to Irwindale tomorrow to try it out.

    Big Brake Upgrade?

This post is typical of the misconceptions that abound in the market place. The key to a BBK upgrade is having a system engineered to maintain proper balance for the vehicle in question. The only advantage of a 6 piston caliper over a 4 piston caliper is cosmetic appearance, i.e., looks cool...

    Big Brake Upgrade?

The Chief Engineer at StopTech is probably the most capable brake system engineer in the United States at this time. His ability to ensure a system is properly designed for a particular vehicle is unparalleled. TRD wouldn't be partnered with them if they didn't think their capabilities and...

    Irwindale this Thursday? 1/10/08

Irwindale is just off the Live Oak exit of the 605 freeway between the 10 and the 210 freeways. Folks usually start getting in line around 3:00 PM. They open the gates at 4:00 for Tech Inspection and the 1st runs go off at 5:00 PM. I think they run until 10:00 PM, but I've always left between...

    Irwindale this Thursday? 1/10/08

It looks like the weather may give us a break so I'm tentatively planning on hitting Irwindale this Thursday, 1/10/08. The temps are supposed to be in the low 60's, which is great for power. Anyone want to join me?

    FAQ: Ignition On Power Source

Depending upon what gauges you are installing, sometimes you need a power source that stays on when the engine is cranking, something like an AutoMeter electric boost gauge that uses a MAP sensor for a signal. If you hook this gauge up to a B+ power source that is interrupted when you crank the...
