I only have 12k miles on this truck and now it starting to sound like a 1988 ford escort with a bad belt.
I thought it was a belt or a A/C problem but nope. It's Deff the throw out bearing.....I took it to toyota and they said. "yes we know about the problem but we can't do anything about it until toyota HQ comes up with a fix....
IS THIS TRUE ? or are they jerking me around ?
What do i need to do to have them fix it ?
what are my options?
 toyota trans

Some have got new trnnys and clutches along with new throwing bearings. All of which don't fix it permanently because they aren't actually the problem. Tsk seems like the best fix so far. Who knows when and if Toyota will ever make a fix??

you are well within warranty. As long as they are aware you have a problem and your complaint is all documented. And its noted that they are awaiting a fix from toyota. Just let it be. No point in giving them the truck when its just going to happen again. Just keep bugging them about it and checking if there is any news on a fix.
Sucks, but not much else you can really do at this point.

Rant begin

2009 Toyota Tacoma Xrunner ...with a squeaky TO/B issue....dealers response to that(05-07 only ones with "issue")...."uhhh there is no fix"

WTF Toyota... HOW FRIGGEN HARD IS IT TO FIX A SQUEAKY GOD DAMN CLUTCH....its been nearly 5 years sense this issue was first documented...You claim to spend a million dollars a minute, fixing safety on issue on your cars, that dont exist...Because of one damn CHP, who doesn't know how to put a car into neutral...But over the past five years, you have found no fix for an actual problem...:stupid:

The only real answer to this, send a fake suicide note to Toyota HQ, saying you killed your self and your family because the squeak was to unbearable. Maybe once someone dies from this issue, they will actually friggen fix it, or try to at least....

Man if my truck was still under warranty...CA lemon law here i come...

/end rant

just had mine fixed at 47k..under warranty...they replaced my trans case and throw out bearing...I was told that Toyota engineers were down looking at my truck to see what the fix for this needed to be. If i remember I will scan and post up the RO when I get home

What does this noise sound like? I get a whir whir sound when in reverse and a slight rumble when moving forward at slow speed. Freaking annoying. Stupid question but do auto trannys have a throw out bearing? :dontknow:

ok got the squeaky bearing fixed for now.....toyota dealer replaced the clutch+bearing..... only after i called the 1(800) # and complained about how dealer didn't wanna fix it. I also got mad as hell because i told them not to touch my pedal...I said i would sign a waiver...just don't touch it....dealer guy said.. sure ok we wont touch it.....got my truck back today...guess what? they took off my polished aluminum pedal cap and replace the pedal with a super little one...The paper work said i complained about the pedal so thats why they replaced it with a smaller one....they are so full of crap...i complained my ass off...and they changed it back...+ they gave me a toyota hat and toyota gulf shirt...i could careless about that stuff i just wanted my truck fixed and my pedal the way it was...

My truck has been "whining" since I bought it in may this year. It had almost 24k then and almost27k now. I wanna call the dealership and tell them about it but I dunno if its the tob or not and I don't know too much at all about them to back up an explanation. I know they r gonna want to hear it whining in person but is there anything else that would cause it? I know its not the belt. If they do find and fix the prob then maybe my a/c clutch will make the grinding noise so they can fix that too cuz its annoying the hell out of me!

If it clears up when you press in your clutch, it's the TOB

TSK from URD fixes it nicely!

My dealer would not fix mine. Said only within the manufacturer warrenty and not included in the Extended Warrenty. I paid $3300 for a new trans

Mine is well beyond warrenty...but i'm gonna tackle doing the work myself. Just means it's a good time to upgrade to a stage II clutch and get the sleeve kit in the process. I think it'll run me around 800- maybe 1000 overall.

it sounds like a old sowing machine or a box of baby chickens chirping.....it should stop when you push on the clutch a little....i would take it in....just tell them the sound is coming from the trans...if they don't want to fix it...ask for the 1800# customer service number so you can complain about how there not doing the warranty work...P.S tell them you don't want your pedal cut...or replaced with a smaller one...you have the option to deny it...
