Hey all! Happy holidays, it's Christmas in FL and wheel mounting happened. I'm happy with my choice, I think the meaty tires look good for a truck. Only wish the front wheels were available in a +12 offset. The +22 still has them sunk into the wheel well a bit, I'll prob end up running spacers eventually. No rubbing or trimming required. Truck feels slower now because the tires actually stick , so more boost in the works. .
Truck looks great dude! The black trim look from the weather stripping actually gives a nice contrast to the Cavalry Blue. Oh yeah, and the wheels are sick!
Thanks! The black trim being a good contrast is the first thing I thought after I painted it. I'm going to continue with that theme for whatever else I can add .
.. I'm sure there's been some change in speedo as the setup is plus sized over stock but not so much that I notice. Haven't tried to check it w gps or radar yet. I was going for a tiny bit of stretch with a good sidewall. Front is perfect, rear might have been better as a 275 but looks fine. Sizes are: Front 19x9.5 +22 with 255/40 kumho ecsta ps91 Rear 19x10.5 +22 with 285/40 kumho ecsta ps91
after looking at your new pics again and comparing them to your stock setup...i gotta say the 19's with a drop really do a great job of filling the wheel well. people really notice how small the oem rims are and is really the only thing negative ive heard about the xr.
I agree. I also sprayed everything up in the wheel wells black which helps, they're a funny shape so some background stuff is always going to be visible. There's still room to go lower, but without the DJM kit I would be on bumpstops. Right now I have just enough suspension travel to get by without bottoming out.
Did a few new things. Added a set of lightweight red alum pulleys from nonstop tuning. Mostly for cosmetic reasons but a tiny performance possibility exists haha. Replaces crank, alternator and water pump (if anyone else does this the alternator pulley has to be filed down to fit). Should have weighed the stock ones in comparison but this def saves a significant amount of rotating mass. I could tell revs are more freed up. Also swapped to an overbuilt set of greaseable sway bar ends for front and rear to cut back on the cobblestone squeaks.
Latest round of shenanigans: Added URD stage 3 clutch with lightweight steel flywheel, arp bolts, new rear main and throwout bearing sleeve kit. Initially I was concerned that I wouldnt like it because the engagement was so aggressive really low in the pedal. After some adjustment and a 200 miles of gentle use I really like it. Engagement is smooth and about in the middle of pedal and it clamps hard if you dump and gas it. Pedal effort isnt much more than stock but it does take some adapting too. Cranks super fast with the light flywheel but hard to tell small hp gains at this point haha. Cold start bearing chirp is gone but there is a little bit of a gravel noise when the clutch isnt pushed in, but whatever....race truck.
I agree! There was a dyno event this passed sunday that I was going to go to, but my GF was grumpy that I was gone most the weekend working so I didnt dare go haha. My birthday Is the 12th and Im looking for somewhere close to do some pulls. Im pretty much maxed out on the bolt on mods with the MK1 rotrex setup
There's always water / methanol injection. I would highly recommend the Snow Stage III Kit. But it's always fun to do one mod at a time to see each bit of difference. Personally, Dyno doesn't mean much if you can't get it to the ground. RACECAR SPELLED BACKWARDS IS RACECAR
The RACECAR palindrome blew my mind. Have a dyno scheduled for tomorrow morning. Im just going to do this one on 93 pump gas to see what my actual daily hp is out of pure curiosity. I drive lots of hot cars at work, but everything is V8 so the powerband in the yota feels totally different. Yes meth injection kits are a possibility, and so is a bigger blower. I already have the 61# injectors set aside for a future upgrade. Truck is fun how it is, but the big meats def made it feel less animal......which is a responsible thing I suppose haha
If you liked the palindrome and your truck is somewhat less animal (responsible), then... RACE FAST SAFE CAR
Yesterday was a blast. I've never dynoed my own vehicle and was fun to see the results after so much work put into my precious. 327whp and 345wtq. Check it!
I really appreciate that your patient enough to upload pics and videos. I'm not "tech savvy" and lose it real quick when I have to do this, and do that, to get the original thing done... Great video! The truck looks great!
Thanks bro! Gotta keep the underground alive, even if it means taking a bunch of extra steps to get it done. Currently content with performance......now onto the next round of mods
