Since I have my headlights apart I thought to make use of the orange side marker. I drilled and mounted 6 x 5mm (5000mcd) in the opening. what do you guys think?

Sorry no real DIY but it's pretty easy.

Just pull apart your headlights like doing the BHLM and pull the bezel out.

Pop the orange reflector out.

Draw a pattern on a piece of construction paper or thin cardboard to match the size of the opening.

Figure out a pattern to drill your LEDs

6 LED pattern

O O O
O O
O

or

10 LED Pattern

O O O O
O O O
O O
O

I taped the template onto the housing and used a center punch to mark the spots

drilled a small pilot hole and found a drill bit that fit the LED snugly (5mm = approx .197")

glued the LEDs in place with a dab of super glue to hold it in place for the time being.

Soldered the LEDs in parallel (i used the LED calcuator to figure out what type of resistor was needed http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz ) depending on what LED you buy the LED forward voltage will vary.

after soldering i tested with a power supply to make sure they all light up and none are burnt out. I topped the LEDs and bare leads with some silicon

put the orange reflector and glue it in place if necessary

Soldered on a short wire and run it out the back of the headlight (if you want you can drill a small hole in the back of the headlight housing and seal it up with some silicon).

You can probably tap the side marker bulb wires for power or find a suitable source.

I had actually thought about that but never really took any initiative to do it. Was thinking of tapping into the signals so they blink too. You did it, and I think it looks cool! Possibly gonna have to do this.

I should probably work a voltage regulator in there so they don't over volt and burn up prematurely.

Looks good, I'd use that for extra turn signals and DTRL.

I ordered some silica gel packets last week and the seller barely shipped them out yesterday so I have to wait until they arrive. hopefully tomorrow so I can seal up these and post some real pics.

Here's the closest thing I can give you to a finished product.

I don't currently have DTRLs but I'm looking on doing that mod in the near future so for now they're just on with the parking lights.

The grey area is actually my shroud painted ultra flat black, I guess it looks grey with the way the celing lights reflect off. I thought it would match better with the ebay black bezels but its different looking

Thanks for the link, i'm probably going that route because it looks BA and its cheap
