trd_sport's 2005 Indigo Ink Pearl Double Cab Prerunner
How I Got My Tacoma:
A big Back to the Future fan growing up, I was convinced I needed to one day own a hoverboard, flying car, and a truck. When I was 15, I landed a full time job and was finally ready to purchase my first vehicle. I deliberated between a Dodge Dakota and the Tacoma. I chose the Tacoma despite the Dakota’s elevated horsepower and I’m so glad I did. It was a ’99 single cab 4cyl prerunner. It was a badass piece of machinery. However, I longed for a v6 and a bit more room. After college and 200k+ miles later it was time to trade her in for something new, though the ‘99 could have gone another 200k if I wished. But I was spellbound by the new body design and larger v6 engine. I traded my single cab in on for a trd sport double cab prerunner. It was exactly what I wanted and I love driving it to this day.
I was originally on a few other sites until I realized I wasn’t really into offroading anymore and wanted to build a more streetable prerunner. I justified this by telling myself the trd sport was built for the street and the trd offroad for trails. I found my place with the xrunner crowd and joined XRU shortly after its inception. Over the years I’ve met some really great people through this site who’ve eagerly shared their knowledge and been what I would consider true friends. Site members have contributed to nearly everything on my truck—from vendor discounts and insider tips to actual vehicle labor and hours spend in the garage. My truck would not be what it is today without all of you. So thank you! Now for that hoverboard.
