So before anyone does this I hold no responsibility for any damage or screw ups. :stupid:
Ok so I am the type that likes to mod as mush as I can myself. With that said I started doing some research on different spoilers on different trucks. I came up with an oem spoiler off a Dakota that almost fits our truck perfect with just a little cutting. Now those with the weak in stomach dont do this because you need to drill the tailgate.
First this is the picture of the box and the spoiler
So I test fit the spoiler to see what mods i would have to do to make it fit.
Ok so I noticed that there were ridges on the inside that would not let it sit flat. I took a razor blade and shaved them off.
Ridge
Ridge gone
Once it was fitted in place I looked at what I needed to cut off. In the picture below you will see the gap between the gate and molding.
Seeing the area to cut I ran a razor blade underneath and made a line were to cut. The inner line that I am am pointing to is were I am going to cut.
Then I took a die grinder and cut it a little longer than I needed
After I cut it I smoothed the edge with a DA sander 80grit.
Then I put double side tape for the top and stuck it on. You could stop here but you will have four holes were the Dakota OE spoiler would have attached. But I went further.
I marked were the holes go and drilled the holes out to match the holes in the spoiler, so I could insert clips to retain it solid.
After all done I put in the clips and donezo. Totally stoke how it cam out.
