I feel for you guys having to yank the whole damn tranny just for a TOB. I have Toyota's new and improved 1. Hopefully improved.

Yeah. My URD throwout bearing has only been installed for a month and is already making a louder noise then the previous squeak.

Did you use lock-tite on the set screws? Did you use a grease for the TOB? Preferably something better than the packet which came with it?

I have installed a few of these. The JB Weld, to fill in the void, from the worn area of the old sleeve, to the new sleeve works very well. Especially in conjunction with lock-tite on the set screws.

I did not do it personally, the shop that did it did have issues with the bearing, and called Gadget. They greased it. I am not sure why this is happening. But the only reason I decided to drop the tranny was to replace the TO bearing, and I did upgrades while it was dropped to justify the cost of dropping the tranny. I love the clutch and flywheel. But all that money for a louder noise is frustrating,

It has been done in a 4x4. While still using the factory Tacoma transmission.

Is there any update on this deciding if it's worth installing the tsk. Thanks

I went the warranty route at Toyota dealer. came with a 12 month warranty. For those who aren't aware toyota extended the warranty to 60 months on this as it is a tsb. Been about 2 months, so far no squeaking, Ill let you all know the second it comes back...

:top: 12 month unlimited milage warranty FTW! Can't speak to any of the issues in this thread though without looking @ each truck basically. I have done a few TOB's though and haven't seen any back yet... *knocks on wood* nor have I seen any of the other tech's redo one to this day.

Also What TORSPD was saying is a good idea, toyota will replace it if its worn under the TSB but JB weld is much cheaper if your paying for it, but you also will more than likely not be able to get a dealer to do this for you, its a backyard mechanic style... that works.

I can speak for this issue repeating itself in the OEM parts. I've had mine replaced 4 times. Never an issue until the clutch went. They installed a new TOB w/ the clutch and I've had 3 replacements since, all within the 12 mo. parts warranty period...

I would do that but I'm way over my warranty and Toyota will just play dumb down here and say they can't find a tab on this. I'll try anyway tho. So what this thread is saying is that it's better to buy oem

Hell no oem is junk, get the upgrade from URD, much better design and if you do have issues with it Gadget will do everything he can to help you out, unlike Toyota. Plus I think the tob upgrade from URD has been updated since this thread was started.

My throw out bearing took a sh*t at 25,000 miles. Since I Had to go in anyway I did the stage3 clutch. As far as the bearing well the tranny shaft was fine no marks. I went with brute force throwout bearing from Auto zone. It is 75.00 bucks then my wife had a retail me not coupon for 15% off, so for about 65 bucks I replaced it and Autozone gives you a lifetime warranty. Just food for thought.

So, has Toyota fixed the problem in new production or is my 2013 going to have the same issue? I've been thinking about buying the Toyota extended warranty before my factory warranty is up.
