Another "moulding" is coming off question

Ok gang new Xrunner owner here as i am trying to tidy up my NEW used '15 Hawaii Only
X-Runner.
Seems as if moulding side skirts are an issue and mine is no exception. Not only do i have a few missing clips but the some retainers that are glued or molded into the moulding have broken off. Dealer was somewhat helpful but determined that the retainer clips are part of the complete moulding (75805-04901 - passenger) and cannot be ordered separately.
Any ideas now of how to fix this to flush the moulding to the body without the retainers? I am probably going to take this to body shop but am afraid they will tell me to get a new moulding which is going to be almost $400 i don't think i want to pay and is not color matched.

I was thinking of using adhesive magnets applied to the body and moulding?

Most people will remove the side skirt and replace the broken clip mounts with these zip tie mounts. The 3m backing that comes on these isnt super strong. Id recommend ditching the double sided tape and use some sort of 2 part epoxy instead.

Thanks. Yes i've seen this numerous times. Just thought there may be an updated process now.
So please pardon my ignorance. Basically remove the moulding and clean area to stick zip tie mounting tabs. Mount the tabs to the moulding using epoxy. Remove all the pink, yellow, blue clips that have survived. Run zip ties through the mounting tabs. Reattach the moulding with 10 mm bolts. Thread the zip ties through the holes where the body clips were and secure.
I hope this covers it. Do you recommend jacking up the truck any or is it easy going without jacking? Reason is i don't have a jack so gotta borrow from neighbor down the street.

Yep you got it. If your truck is stock height, you can probly get your head under the side skirt and manage to get it done but it will be tight. Would be easier if you had it jacked up a bit or even had a couple pieces of wood to drive up onto to give yourself some more room

I am not sure which piece you are talking about... passenger side rocker ground effect has lots of parts. I am guessing that it maybe the black flat-ish pieces that mount to the bottom of the cab for the ground effects to mount to. I have a picture of those with the correct clips attached at the bottom of page 11. There are 3 different colored clips.. red clips, yellow clips and pink clips. Please check out my thread to see me install the ground effects on my truck and maybe this will help. It is on page 11 and 12 of the thread below. I also have a list of all the factory part numbers to add ground effects to my truck. I hope this helps.

We are mostly talking about the moulding and NOT the black flat-ish pieces that mounts to the bottom of the cab for the ground effects (moulding) to mount to. Your picture of the white moulding has clip retainers where the different colored clips would snap into. The issue i am having is many of those moulding clip retainers have broker off. So instead of using those colored clips we are going to use zip ties through those holes the clips should be in and run them through those above tie mounts that gearhead999 said to epoxy onto the moulding to replace the retainers

Ok, I understand more now. My guess would be that the plastic like material for these mounts are drying out over time and becoming more brittle and that is why they keep braking. Another option you can look at is "plastic welding" the moulding mounts back on. Some of these plastic welding techniques use small thin pieces of metal (kinda like a single staple) to make the weld points stronger and hold longer. This method would not be as easy as the "zip tie" method or "epoxy" method but I would think to hold up longer. Either way sounds like it would help hold that ground effect piece back in place. Hope you find a good method that works for you.

Problem is you can't get those moulding retainers separately. It is part of the whole moulding believe it or not. So in order to get those you would need to source a used moulding with the retainers or just buy a whole new moulding for more than $300. I am missing a few so that's that

I have the same problem. Drivers side molding is a little loose. I would love to get it tightened up. Not sure if I want to do it myself though.

My passenger rocker is doing the same for now i got it taped up but really want a permanent fix

Ok updates. I just did the rear driver panel where there were 3 clips. Clips were intact but the 3 attached retainers broke off the moulding.
I used the cable zip tie mounts like above but used 1". Larger the stronger. Secondly remove the 3M adhesive pad so it is just plastic. CLEAN THE AREA WELL!!! Use JB Weld 2 part epoxy for plastics to glue the zip tie mounts to the area where the retainer broke off.
I used stainless steel wire instead of zip ties. You will need to drill a hole beneath the existing body holes to run ss wire through. Spray the holes with paint to inhibit rust. Ran the wire through the mounts then through body panel holes then twisted it as close to the base as possible. Hand twisted the wire then used a pliers with a twisting action to twist tighten the wire as close to and as tight so the moulding pulls flush on the body. It's on there solid! CHEEE HOOO!!!

So use 1" zip tie mounts instead of 3/4" - remove 3M two way tape all of it
JB Weld 2 part epoxy for plastic. CLEAN AREA GOOD!!
stainless steel wire instead of zip ties
use pliers with twisting action to tighten up the ss wire as close to the base as possible
