Hey guys I want to do a real basic but worthwhile detail of the truck for XFE. I'm planning a wash, clay, polish, wax, spray detail. What products do you guys recommend?

Heard a lot of good things about Zaino, Mothers, etc.

***DS I'm not looking to use 123490825209229023 products to get it like yours :eviltongue: I don't have the time or the patience***

Just looking for a good polish and wax to tidy up my X. :top:

And my68ur8trd, what is that cheater spray you use under the hood?

I think I'm going to go with the Sonus line. Good reviews and not too expensive.

SFX-2, SFX-3. SFX-4.

Wash it, clay it..Get yourself some Wolfgang Paint Sealant 3.0 stuff is great.
http://autogeek.net/wg5500.html
then put a nice wax over top of that.
Everyone praises the WG 3.0 and protection last about 6months.
Just follow the directions they give..you buff it on..then let it sit on the paint for an hour then remove. Keep it in a garage for 12hrs so no dew or anything gets on teh paint since the dew will wash away the sealant before it cures.

wash with car shampoo, then wash with dawn ( to take off old wax)

clay, wash, Z5, Z6, Z2,Z6,Z8 done

the Z6 is just the spray detail between coats. my truck usually takes me about 3 hours to do. I hope to squeeze it in this week for XFE., but its shiny already so I may skip it since it is in the garage most of the time

ok now to get a little more technical, what kind of pads should be used with the Z5 and the Z6. And the Z8 seems like a spray on-wipe off?? No wax?

Too many after work activities, lol. And I don't have a garage I can use to ensure it stays dry

Griots Garage has some of the best detailing products out there. You don't buy your proformance parts at Walmart so why settle for their detailing stuff.

all by hand, and they will send you a 100% cotton applicator with it. you dont need to use much pressure, pretty much whip it on, let it dry and wipe it off

they have some niffty new towels that I want to try too

but microfiber towels with the binding cut off work for me

the Z8 is a final seal. this is a polymer system. it does not build up like wax, because its not a wax. I only do my truck once a year, and when it was outside all the time, it was only twice a year. you can redo the Z8 every 90 days if you want since that stuff is the shit!!!

if you have light scratchs, the fusion stuff is kick ass by hand, and it also does a great job of brightening up your headlights,

oh yeah, you can put the polish and Z8 on all your plastic and glass, it works way better than Rain-X and last a long time.

I put it on my headlights, tailights, and all windows, and it wont turn your black plastic white, so if you get it on there, oh well

and it will seal your rims too
