Big Brake pedal feel Help!!!

Hey there guys,
I just got around to assemble my bbk with brackets from performance brakes unlimited. I scavenge the parts as well like some x owners on this site. However, in the process of bleeding the brake system I cant seem to get a solid pedal feel. I know that some have reported a softer/mushier pedal feel but still getting contact from their brakes. Well in my case the brakes have no contact in the front at all when pedal is engaged to the floor while the vehicle is on and we can move the rotors with our bare hands. Now when the vehicle is off, the brakes make contact when the pedal is engaged and rotors dont move at all.
We have suspicion that it can a) be the calipers not functioning or b) master cylinder or brake booster gave out.
Have any of you guys experienced this or have any ideas as to what it can be. It would greatly be appreciated.

The X has 4 channel ABS you may have air in the ABS pump. I would just bleed the left front by itself a few times making sure not to empty the reservoir and see if you can get that caliper working. Have the person pumping the pedal do it slow, if pumping to fast with a lower fluid level you just introduce more air into the system, sometimes this happens and it is very frustrating. If you get a half decent pedal feel drive to a place where you can activate the ABS system safely and then bleed the system again. I have a gravel parking lot a 1/4 mike away from my garage that I use to activate ABS.

What's the difference compared to the factory bbk?
Anything bigger than our factory setup seems to be a big brake Tbh

I had the same issue and I ended up letting the system gravity bleed on its own. I didnt get air into the ABS pump though. It will help a ton if you can pull a vacuum on the system.

Yea if you do not have a way to plug into the ABS controller to activate it you have to improvise. The easiest way to do that is test runs on a slick surface like a gravel lot or another place you can safely activate the system.

here is a toyota abs bleeding trick save alot of time with out using a snap scanner

i know it works on Prius and some others have yet to try it on my truck never had too

get a friend to push and hold on the brake but not to the floor but enough to activate the abs pump and the system will pump it's self up then you crack the bleeder wail some one fills the res

then presto bango system is blead just run around the truck to bleed all corners

Yeah I got rid of it
Did what auto body x did and bled the brakes enough to get abs to kick in. Then took it out to kick in the abs and pedal got way firmer. After doing so i bled them one more time just incase the abs had a bit air and Tadah

One thing im having though is crazy vibration at highway speeds like coming from 80 to 60. This was only after I did a canyon run after push the hell out of the truck. Now need a set of new tires lol

Good to see you are enjoying the brakes. I put a sequoia master cylinder in mine and a proportioning valve on last weekend. I can honestly say the truck stops better than most sports cars. I use EBC yellow pads on the front. It might be a little over kill but they work good enough for me. I know autobodyx uses carbotech brakes. Those might be my next set

Nice I used Centric rotors with hawk street/ race pads and man do they stop.
However I think warped the rotor going to angeles crest and get a lot of steering wheel vibration when braking at highway speeds
Going to turn the rotors and install the hawk Lts pads this weekend.
Did you also change the brake booster?
Want to do the tundra Mc and booster upgrade

No I didn’t do the tundra booster upgrade. I got a Toyota Sequoia master cylinder from SOS performance. No need to change out the booster on that upgrade

Really? So it's a worthy upgrade and do you have rear disk conversion or just the tundra brakes up front
How much did you end up paying?

I have just the front brakes. The drums in the back don’t do much so I don’t bother with them. Well i work for a parts company so parts are cheap for me. And yes it was worth it for the upgrade
