Blackin out emblem

Is there any write ups or steps needed to take before painting the embem? Has any one sanded it down before sprayin it?

If you want it to stay like that forever...I would sand it. I didn't sand mine cause I wasn't sure if I wanted it that way. I just used the xtra Krylon I used for my headlights. I ended up kinda messing up cause I had a smug on it. I just peeled it right off. Can't even tell I sprayed it. I wouldn't use Krylon though...use another type of Spray paint.

Idk i think its just because it matches with the blacked out head lights...i dont really care for it i m just waiting for the blacked grille to come in

Im not speaking for others, but personally its because Im keeping the front stock and have no other chrome on the truck.
When I get a little time Im even going to tape off the emblem on the steering wheel and black it out with a paint pen - its really obnoxious.

it's simple, easy and changes the whole dynamic of the front end without shelling out an arm and a leg for a grill...

I repainted my emblem in gloss black this time.....WITH ALOT OF GLOSS!!! Now it can match my new grille coming in 2morrow. :rock:

i messed up the 1st time i did it..what i did is got a fine sand paper and sand it down and re-painted..it takes a lot of patience as well!

of course ..take it off lmao.. no need to sand it if its chrome still..just give layers of black and patience.. i gave my emblem like 4 layers and no chip
