Bump Steer Kit Ideas...

I made myself a kit several years ago and have updated the design a few times and yes it’s on Facebook in the xrunner group. Nobody wants to pay for a kit they want to find and buy the needed parts themselves. The tricky part was making a sleeve. The more recent design uses a replacement inner tie rod and a off the shelf everything, nothing custom.

The GM style adapter stud has the same taper and is a direct fit. You may have used the ford style.

That is great news I, never moved forward because of that, and just last night ordered this ->

GM tie-rod adapter.

as the truck atm is influenced by the road too much and, the roads around here are under massive construction and have been for years.
I am thinking of doing the lower control arm bushings while I am at it, so I only need to get 1 alignment.

I went with the moog ev319 because it has more thread on it than the ev320, and I have seen in posts where that mattered for some.

I was checking out the facebook group for people that have installed this and noticed that the new tie-rod adapters don't use a castle nut to allow a split pin, should I drill the nut and adapter to put one it? Surely that is not safe with out.

The nut is a nylock, I’m not sure I spelled that correctly, style retainer that is an industry standard now. The fastener locks itself but is not reusable like a castle nut.
A drop of lock tite on the inner tie rod to steering rack shaft is a recommended.
Some people don’t like or understand that the taper on the adapter stud does all the work, the gap under the spindle between the end of the taper and the shoulder of the stud is not a issue so do not over tighten the stud to close the gap. The taper bottoms out not the stud. It’s not a bolt.

after ordering these parts and getting them all together and ready to go on the truck, there seems to be to much play, and the taper on the adapter is close but not perfect. I have reached out to a company that makes specific bump steer kits for drift cars. I have an appointment tomorrow to have the taper fitted and the kit assembled specifically for the xrunner, these are high quality kits that last for a very long time. if anyone is still interested I will post a link to the kit once it is all measured up.

Please explain close but not perfect. The only complaint anyone has ever had was the stud doesn’t completely bottom out in the steering arm. It’s not intended too.

From what I have been told the taper/angle of the steering knuckle is not a perfect match for the taper/angle of the pinto or the GM adapters most people end up drilling out the knuckle to make it match perfectly. I just had the adapters machined up to be a perfect match, that way I don't have to worry about any weird wear or the knuckle and adapter coming loose after they seat themselves.
