I would love to get rid of the amber lights on the cluster... I would go with a blue or purple/blue. I drove a Ford Ranger about 10 years ago that had a cluster in that color --- it looked really good. Either that or solid white.

Those aren't the backlights. I've opened up my gauge cluster about 6 times to try and figure out how to change the color. I'm still brainstorming and trying to come up with a way. Give me like a week or so and I should have it done.

oh and the lights are LEDs. about 3mm by 2mm and are wired to the circuit board. So changing the lights will require some basic soldering.

This is what I had heard before. But if it's just soldering on new LEDs ------ bring it on.

On another note, how hard was it to get the cluster out?

not too hard. a little tight to get it out from behind the steering wheel. And to take off the front plastic cover was a little hard. If you do it, just know that you have to take off the clear plastic piece and the black plastic piece at the same time.

now this will only change the lights for the gauges right? You still will have the orange amber color for the radio and the AC controls?

sadly yes. The horibble thing about those, is that the lights are actually white. There's an orange coating on the inside of everything. So if you can find a way to remove the orange coating, go right ahead. I'm going to figure that one out after my dash lights.
